has anyone tried to like record from a tape cassette (remember those) to the hard drive. how is it done, settings, software to record to, or record to vdj as in record mix and how to make it into mp3 hope some know what im taking about.

May I ask why you would want to record anything of a tape cassette.
I wonder if you get that nice humming noise like you got, when you did a dodgy copy of a freinds cassette.

Audacity should do the trick. Just run the line out (or headphone jack on your walkman lol) into your soundcard and adjust the level until it is correct. I bet rip vinyl in VDJ would work too, if you were SURE to turn the phone pre-amp OFF. : )
