Tópico: Comment Field: How can I leave it blank?

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hi guys,

I have a large mp3 database and I wanted all the comment fields to be blank. I used a program called Tag&Rename and deleted all the info left in the comment fields of all the tracks. I reloaded all the tracks in Tag&Rename and the field appeared blank for all of them as expected. However, when I access the tracks in VDJ, all the messages reappear as if they hadn't been deleted. I also deleted all the VDJ database files placed in both the User's DJ folder and the folder where the files are kept. This hasn't solved the situation and the comment fields still reappear.

The exact same thing happens if I delete the comments within VDJ. They also reappear if I select to view the comments, so they are not deleted as expected.

I would like to leave all these fields blank so that I can start using them from scratch.

Is there anything I can do in order to achieve it? Am I missing anything in what I am doing?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Jaume

You need to re-import the changes.

Use the asterisks - * - in the search.
Click on the first file in the browser.
Use the keyboard combination -- Ctrl - A to highlight all the files
Right click on the highlighted files and choose File Infos - Comment from Tag or Erase Comment

Thanks for the reply.

I have done that. I first choose file infos>comment from tag and the comments appear.

Now I choose file infos>erase comment.

When I choose file infos>comment from tag the comments reappear, so they have not been permanently deleted as i expect.

Well did you erase both version 1 and version 2 comment fields in the Tags ? Need to use Tag&Rename to see if there are still comments in the other version of the tag.

I haven't done that actually... How do I get hold of version 2 of the comments in Tag&Rename? I have checked the help file and there isn't any trace of a Comment Field version 2. Also, I have checked the customise option when you right-click on the columns displayed and there isn't anything.

Again, many thanks for your help on this.

Does anyone know how to find the comment field version 2 in Tag&Rename?

I think it's the Tools menu - Mode - and select the ID3v2 option.

Many thanks for the advice. I found it and it is actually in View>Mode>ID3v2 or any other format. This has solved my problem. I still have a few tracks with comments on them but I suppose they are in another format, so I will figure it out eventually.

Again, many thanks to you cstoll and this community in general. Anytime I have had any issue it has been solved. It is definitely on of the best communitites in the net!!! :o)

Vidanes,

I used Windows Media Player 10 to play the .mp3. I then right-clicked the .mp3 in the "Now Playing List" and selected "Advanced Tag Editor". In the "Advanced Tag Editor", select the "Comment" tab and delete the tag(s) (all of them). This took care of the all the comments put there by other programs.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
