Setting to "always" you -always- take the risk for windows
to use the swap file, if you load a big file (like a >30 mix file)
Max load is just a limit.
With 512 i'd say use 15 min, or 30.

well... probably true... :)
I never use mp3s with a length longer than 15 mins... :)

I know what you're guys are talking about, but the scenario of CPU is'nt
connected to a HDD. A Hard disk drive is a Mechanical & Electronic device at the same time as well,
Just as Speakers & Woofers etc,. U know what i mean..right?...Now the scene is that CPU also supports
much, but the fact of speed whatever you execute "THE FIRST TIME" in O/S depends 80% upon the
speed of a Hard disk drive. A RAM is just like a Hard disk drive, yet having a compatibility to execute things 10times faster than Hard disk. You know what i'm sayin'...Those Drive Manufactures & Developers are not dumb bags, just producing hard drives for nothing. The tech. in storage of data(ONLY) is gone too far, but still the thing lacks in performance is the speed of the storage device, which those developers are still working on.
I'll tell u boyz, what my specs are:
got a,
Pentium 4 CPU with 800Mhz FSB, HT 3.6Ghz
Intel 915GAV dual channel DDR2-533, SATA+RAID, PCX
PCI-Express Video Card

got a,
Pentium 4 CPU with 800Mhz FSB, HT 3.6Ghz
Intel 915GAV dual channel DDR2-533, SATA+RAID, PCX
PCI-Express Video Card(built-in) 512 DDR
Seagate 80GB SATA, 10,000RPM HDD(The storage factor)
RealTek 7.1ch (High defination sound)(built-in)
Upto-date drivers(all that directx stuff etc.)...

I've never find a problem with when i'm mixing.
I've just found 1 problem, & i did that myself, 5times. The fact was of a bad/damaged audio file.
& everytime i do that, VDJ Crashes giving me an error of Recover/Shutdown.

Moreover, i experienced another thing.

I have a habit of Defragmenting my Hard disk drive once a week.
But now, I did'nt had a Defrag since 5 months.
I found at the end of 2 months, VDJ gradually started to get slow, & a little less in speedy in file load.
After 2 days i defrag the Drive & found the Results astonishing.
Everything was back to normal like i'm runnin' VDJ from THE SCRATCH.

2ndly,
I'm running my system @ 2 different partitions.
Primary = FAT32 (Only Boot files).Scratch disk(Pagefile)
Secondary = NTFS (Systems files).(Program Files)

I found variations in these 2 file systems.

I found at Mircrosoft Support in "Advantages of NTFS" thread.

"Faster access speed: NTFS minimizes the number of disk accesses and time needed to find a file. In

addition, if a folder is small enough to fit in the MFT record, NTFS reads the entire folder when it reads

its MFT record."

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/2000/server/reskit/en-us/core/fncc_fil_orws.asp

& Comparitively to it in another thread of "Which is Faster - FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS,it's mentioned:

"A FAT folder entry contains an index of the file allocation table, which identifies the cluster number for

the first cluster of the folder. To view a file, FAT has to search the folder structure."

But they also say that:

"For small volumes, FAT16 or FAT32 usually provide faster access to files than NTFS because:"

The FAT structure is simpler.
The FAT folder size is smaller for an equal number of files.
FAT has no controls regulating whether a user can access a file or a folder; therefore, the system does not

have to check permissions for an individual file or whether a specific user has access to the file or

folder. This advantage is minimal because Windows 2000 still has to determine if the file is read-only, or

whether the file is on a FAT or NTFS volume.

Read it all by yourself guys--->

Well.... many things can vary in numerous configurations.
What clear to us is that VDJ is a x86 platform standard only!
If they say they don't have a bug...even Bill gates used to say that...
A Man is an identity of a BIG BUG himself...We need improvement in every step of life.
BUT,
If company claims very confidently that "There is NO BUG"
No doubt, there should'nt be any BUG. Maybe the're software is'nt YET
compatible for various types of configurations people have.
&
Still i myself claim people out there...not the Developers.

& I Thank The VDJ Team for Supporting so much!

wireless about your scratch being faster and what not...
i noticed different zoom of the wave form create a difference in scratching. at least as far as mouse scratching goes. i dont know about the TCV users.
the nearer the zoom the better the scratch quality...

hi guys,
I've tried different versions of the software on different pc's and there was always the "crash" problem.
Sometimes VirtualDJ managed to play for hours without any crash but usually it was only postponed.
The version i personaly use is not the professional. It is the dj console version and i found the same problem as the one i found in 2.06pro. Dificulties in loading some files and ocasionally crashes. The hardware is not the best but is good enough for such program: p4 2.4ghz, 2x512mb ddr400 kingston, 80gb sata hitatchi, creative audigy 2 (i cannot use it with my curent version of the software because it plays only on my hercules integrated card) and so on.
For all of you that have some problems with the software i will say only one thing:

TURN OFF THE TIME STRACH.

Since i've done this the software is 100% error free.
If you eventally still have some problems here is my settings configuration:
AutoBPM - disabled
AutoGain - enabled
AutoPitchReset - enabled
ForceFade - Disabled
FadeLenght - 16ms
BeatLock - Rigid
Crossfader - Full
Limiter - Enabled
TIMESTRETCH - DISABLED

I really hope that i helped you. This option off really works for me.
Happy dj'n :)

P.s. pls. excuse my bad english.
