When I leave my "booth", I like to lock my computer so that no one can access it. Sure some skins come with a locking feature (Multi Functions 2.0), but people could still access my computer.
I decided to use the Windows shortcut Windows+L to do a "Quick User" switch. I wanted more control over the default options that show on the default Windows screen. For example, I did not want the "Shutdown" button to appear so that people can shut off or restart my computer. I know people can still press the physical button, but it gives them less options. In addition, I wanted to have nice customized graphics as well.
My solution? I used Stardock's LogonStudio (www.logonstudio.net) to edit the default Windows logon for a nice logon screen for me. Note that I erased my real name and added "DJ GargantulaKon" in Photoshop. I am not a popular DJ and do not go by that name seriously enough to register my computer with my DJ name :-).
Sure I could give you a step-by-step of how to get this point, but I thought it would be much easier if I give you the file with my ~4 hours of tedious work. Microsoft had a graphic that was stretched out and when I replaced the image with my EQ LEDs, it looked horrible when stretched. I had to tweak the "Panel Width" value by .01%. I kept saving and applying until I got it perfect with not even one pixel stretched out. I checked it out in Photoshop with the orignal graphic overlayed and it should be dead on. Whew! In addition, I had to "hack" my way to getting the lower panel to disappear since setting it to hide did not work.
One only has to replace the background picture! That is it! The logon is set for my 1024x768 monitor so it might look different on your monitor's resolution.

- Open up LogonStudio.
- Click on "Load" and browse to my Logon file.
- Click on"Edit".
- On the right side of the window, you will see a tree view under the word "Elements".
- Click on "Center Panel".
- Click on the ".." button next to the word "(Bitmap)" in the bottom right "Properties" section.
- Click on "Browse" on the new window and make sure the image you select is a BMP file.
- Click "Open" and then "OK".
- Click on the top left icon that looks like an artist's palette to preview and test it.
- That's it! Close the "LogonStudio Editor" and click "OK" on the bottom right on the main "LogonStudio" application to finish!

That looks Very cool and gives your pro edge
but i must warn you that using logon studio can cause unexpected changes to your registry , which may reduce the performance of your computer
use stardock products with caution

Unexpected registry changes? Do you know exactly what is changed? I never had a problem so far, but I hope I never do.
As of now, I only use the LogonStudio program from Stardock, since I do not want to mess up my computer with new themes. I gave into it before with the WindowsBlinds program, but some programs use the default skinning engine and I had some problems with it. I love how cool it looks though! I made my Windows XP OS look like Vista.

Did anyone find the tutorial helpful? It is also in my blog now for future reference.
Do you know which products exactly to be aware of that can ruin the registry?

Skyfxl mentioned the registry issues, so that is why I am curious now about that issue. I just reformatted my computer a few months ago and do not want to ruin my OS.

Check out Taylas post about the clipbank and see his You tube posts, you can take those and create screen savers, then simply put password protect on when you come back from the screensaver, Sky is this possible?? Is it possible to activate a screensaver with the touch of a button??

Thats possible....
Just locate the SCR file inside Windows folder, and make a shortcut at desktop, and manage the shortcut to a key.
Modify the shotcuts path too, to by-pass possible intro screens (instant activate)

So far I have not had any problems, but I will be cautious if anything happens to my computer. So far, so good.
Hey discobrian24, that sounds like a great idea! Any program to run a custom video screen saver? I do not how to make my own screen saver yet. Can users press Ctrl-Alt-Del to close the screensaver? How secure is it?

I know how to make video content. I use 3ds Max myself. I just do not know how to get the video to play as a password protected screen saver. As far as I have read, the post does not mention how to make a screen saver. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.

Export it as a screensaver, once you do that locate that file and right click it and It says somethin like activate, I will download on this computer and let you know.:)
EDIT Ok after you export as a screensaver go to the file and right click, then select install and it puts it into your windows list of screensavers.
