Tópico: Tips from Denon-HC4500 users - Page: 1

Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Just got it, and I am using it with version 5.5. also using native support instead of Midi. I noticed that the jog/scratch wheel on deck 2 controls deck 1, is that common?, How can I change that so it controls Deck 2 when scratching. Also I am noticing freezing as well. What are the performance settings you guys are using.

My latop is a Dell Xps 140
2 gigs of ram
Windows XP SP2 used just for DJIng only.

Also is there a list of what buttons on the unit control what functions within VDJ

Thanks in advance

There are some bugs with the controller still but hopely in future versions will be corriged.

Well right now it nothing more than a sound card for me. Can not really use it as a controller. It will work for a while then it freezes up VDJ, specfically functions like the fast forward-rewind buttons, and when scratching, and even just using the play buttons.

I am looking at the Denon HC4500 also.

So you mean to tell us that it does not work correctly with VDJ's latest version, which has it available as a controler to chose from in the remote control option? Why would VDJ make it an option to pick from if it doesn't even work with it? I really don't want it to lock up or crash the program.

Before I drop the cash on the Denon HC-4500, I'd like to make sure it is going to work with VDJ. I've read many posts about waiting because Denon made a deal with a competitor, but really, how long? 1 year? 2 years? 8 months? It seems Denon should have scrapped the idea of bundeling the other software and instead gotten with VDJ and PCDJ to get accurtate control for each. That way they could have sold many more units, like to me.

I will be writing a mapper for this controller (I have already started work in this, but I don't have the controller yet) - This should be finished later this month if all goes well and will enhance the functionality of this controller.

Let me be clear, about my earlier post, yes using VDJ 5.5 and choosing the native support for DN-HD 4500 it will work for a little while then VDJ freezes. I have not tried using as Midi controller, once I do I will post my results. I would be curious to know how this controller is working for other VDJ users. It does work flawless with the limted Reflex software, but who wants to use that it looks like audio tracking software instead of DJ software. I look forward to jpboggis mapper. P.S. I have read in both the Serato, and Denon forum, that the HD 4500 will be the official controller for Scratch Live, as they are implementing midi, in there upcoming versions.

Have you guys read this. I know everybody wants the new toy, but you guys are rushing nowhere fast. Denon has made a deal with PCDJ, don't you think there is a exclusivity clause in there somewhere? VDJ knew some of you were gonna get the controller, so in anticipation of getting the controller and the code, they included it in the remote control menu. They have said over and over, that it is not fully supported yet. It has been my experience, that when a new controller becomes available, VDJ has supported it. Since it is Denon, I can't see them doing anything different.

Seems like they have made deals with PCDJ & Serato

The HC4500 is a universal USB MIDI controller with an open protocol that any DJ software company in the world can support. What goes in the carton can only be Reflex LE. What you wish to use it with is all up to you.

Yes, but not working with a denon midi mixer for linking the fader for audio and video, I tried to configured it wit a dn-x500 with no luck, maybe pioneer djm-800 would work not sure.

Intial findings on using is this controller via midi is, it's works great. No freezing VDJ, very responsive, the controller it self is very responsive. Have not firgured out yet how to configure the jog wheels for scratching, but so far it working well via midi. The only downside is of course the display information does not work. Hopefully jpboggis, will be able to work his magic

Hi Guys Ryan from PCDJ posted that they are expecting full native support in the next few days.

Can we assume then that VDJ are right behind with full native support seen as its preety much based on VDJ version 5

PCDJ Reflex is not based on VDJ 5.

When and where did ryan say that full native would be here in a few days. Def no for VDJ he said it for PCDJ VJ, Def not about reflex or VDJ.

And if he really did say that please send me the link to it asap
Thanks

Ryan was talking about the PCDJ VJ software which is based on Virtual DJ V5 and not reflex their own software.

I will post the link in a second.

Here is what Ryan said from the PCDJ boards and the link to the thread.

http://message.pcdj.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17297&perpage=20&pagenumber=4

"The word is that it will be completed as soon as development is done with it and the testes have signed off. I don't have any specific timeline, just a soon as humanly possible. Aren't you just using the LE demo? Not exactly jumping ship there. The Denon controller was built for universal support, we don't have any kind of exclusive.

PCDJ VJ will have an update in a few days here with full inherent HC4500 support, not sure you knew that"

And here is another quote from him

"We're waiting on the update from VDJ, The HC4500 just took longer to reach them over there then we assumed, it got hung up in customs for a week. If you didn't already gather, VJ is built around the 5.0 version of VDJ...

So here is my original question again,

Can we expect that VDJ to be shortly after with full support for the denon unit

hopefully one of the devlopers or moderators can shine some light on the situation. Native support would be great. I am holding off selling my DAC 2 until it gets done.

I have a Denon HC4500 now and I'm working on a custom mapper for it. This should be finished later this month if all goes well.
