I am curious as to the purpose of having VDJ scan all the music (and video) files on my hard drives.
What exactly does this do???
I like to set all my cue points manually on the songs and videos that I play. I like to have all my songs load at the original BPM and then manually adjust.
I am worried that if I scan my drives, VDJ is going to setup these songs in ways that I don't want them to.
Is this really necessary to do, I haven't done it yet and am not having any major issues loading and playing songs

"scan" means only that VDJ search HD for songs etc. to use "search" function in VDJ. What you are talking about is "analyse" function which you can do manually.

and where can I find the Analyze option. I am not seeing it in the options tab

Analyzing only evaluates the track and determines the BPM and Key of the songs. I does not create cue points. Right click on a track and select Scan for BPMs. If the track has never been analyzed VirtualDJ does this the first time the file is loaded to a deck.
