Hi. I've been following this as well, and thank you for all your efforts (especially you cstoll).
I'm playing around with virtual dj 6.0.1 with my cdj-400s... it's brutal. I've ripped through all the options, mappings, etc, and nothing is changing the "lag" with the platter. It must be programming wise. Even playing a song and just pressing down on the platter is delayed by at least 500ms.
Also, the CUE button, i've set that to cue_stop, and it's doing what I personally think it should be doing (play as long as it's held down), however, this too is lagged. Try this for testing:
1) cue up a beat on a song.
2) start tapping the cue button on beat to another song (is it lagging? No? see next step.)
3) start tapping the cue button double bpm (8 taps per one bar 4/4 time). It should be lagging on you.
And umm, I find it isn't just the cue button it lags on. It's also the hot cue buttons at the top (the 3 buttons for cues when not pressing "hold"). You can tap the hotcue buttons on beat, but you can't go fast than that.
.... and the play button is delayed by at least 200ms.
If you want me to, I can make a video for you. I can't really explain this any better.
Now a few questions:
1) How do I set effects to use while pressing HOLD and one of the 3 effect/cue/sample buttons?
2) How can I delete a hot cue without finding it in the waveform and right click?
3) How can I change the reverse button to do a forward reverse (tack continues in forward motion, but plays it backwards)? This would be great for blocking out swear words :)
4) What does "MEMORY" do? lol

#1 - are you asking 'How do you use the Menu feature?' which is assigned to the HOLD button.
#2 - well you would need to assign a button to delete_cue # - the problem is # -- something that can be thought about.
#3 - change the action to -> dump
#4 - toggles the Smart_Loop feature (lock to the right of the skin's loop section)
AS TO THE LAG ISSUE ... I know what the issue is and it's a programming change that needs to occur ... when its been done and available I will let you know ... Don't need any more 'investigating' or 'feedback' ... it is what it is for now ...

Afrog is right about lag in cueing. When I have a song playing on one deck, I tap the cue button on the other, which is cued right on a beat, when I tap it to match the other song it lags slightly behind...Also it doesn't always "kick on" when pressed or it's late. Also I want to know how to get the cue button working like it did in V 5. While previewing a song using the cue button the song will continue to play if I hold the button longer than a couple of seconds. I don't want it to do that, if I want the song to continue playing I'll hit the "Play" button, not the "Cue" button. How can I fix this?

Unchecking them made no difference.
And...
1) how do I get the actual effect assigned to each button though?
Also, is it possible to have a two button map? So HOLD + Cue 1?

Ok, so I just spent 2 hours mixing with 6.0.1, and another hour earilier with it... so 3 hours total.... I think the program itself hangs.
Here's my reasoning. I would go from folder to folder and while clicking, nothing would load, however everything looks as if it's perfectly fine. This would also make sense as to why the jog wheel doesn't respond at times, and same with the buttons.
Also as a side note: The knob to select songs sometimes doesn't work either. One of the two would.

I did an almost 2 hour set with about half of that time playing videos. When cueing up the next video VDJ 6.0.1 crashed on me. I restarted VDJ and tried it again to no avail. I had to restart the comp. This has happened a few times. I am a feeder on a couple of Music Groups, someone on one of the channels told me that I can submit a "Crash Report", how do I do this?

Go to your virtual DJ folder (C:\Users\YourName\Documents\VirtualDJ\ on windows vista, xp i'm not too sure), and find "Crashguard report.txt". I suppose you'd send in a ticket with the information within it.

You don't need the long filename, just go to your Documents folder (Vista) or My Documents (XP) and within it is the VirtualDJ folder.

I am running virtual dj beta 6 for the mac os with two cdj-400s and cannot seem to find a way to get sound output out of both players (they both play out of a single channel)
I have a friend that uses the windows version and it gives the option of an ASIO driver, but my mac version does not give me that option.
anything I can do to get both CDJ-400 players to show-up as sound drivers?

Yes, you can either set up VDJ with "Two Soundcards" or create an Aggregate Device (click for info on creating one).

It appears I offended CHris , Sorry Chris Didnt mean to offend you .. as for a bit of backround Ive been djing professionally for many years. I currently reside in a Very Popular Nightclub in Pittsburgh. Ive used vdj for years recently I purchased the cdj 400s about 2 months ago hoping to have an alternative to lugging tables but have found them to not play well with any config-- , well I downloaded vdj 6.01 and installed it on my gig machine DELL PRECISION WORKSTATION windows xp 2.7 dual core processor 512nvida fx2700 video card 4 gig of ram ( xp uses only 3.2) well With new version It seemd ok i played with it experimenting with audio output and remapped a few functions( the new mapper is graet vdj grt job ) after 3 days it seemed fine at home( btw my vsta backup notebook would not play well)- i took it out this past friday night at the club I work.. i could barely get through the night.. the cdjs lagged so badly and i also couldent keep the waveforms from floating ..also out of nowhere the cue button stopped working and sometimes would respond way after the fact and the scratch, well we know they are working on that, i even adjusted audio settinds on the fly-- but for a professional application it was disheartening for me and i feel like an asshole along with a lot of money spent...... I am selling the cdjs I was looking forward to the denon 3700s. Im am prayng the denon 3700s issue gets fixed... I would love to highlight vdj at the club i work but i do a lot of mixing and I need hardware to work, and not have issues -- I just cant continue to buy new controllers and have issues, (the hercules are great but for a clubgig on weekly basis thats not going to cut it, so far the xp10 has been the best controller so far - i now have isseus with... So you see i have bought many different hardware pieces dac3, numark dmc2 ,denonhc4500 and the herc etc .. Im sure im not the only one out there that is frustrated. Set-it up thru Aggregate device as you described. Chose pioneer cdj-400 as one player then my Aggegate device as second player and works like a charm! You are a genius!

Hey Jamm, I don't understand why you are having so many problems using VDJ with your CDJs. Mine work flawlessly except when it comes to scratching. I have run mine for hours on end using VDJ and not once expeienced anything close to what you are reporting. I really don't know what to tell you here, very strange!

I'm running 2 CDJs along with a Korg Zero 4... no problem besides the scratching.
I also noticed that the cue button "sticks" and sometimes doesn't register, and the play button is delayed... but that's more latency then anything (my vdj 5.2.1 had no problems).
I hope they fix it soon :)
