Do you need to download and install DirectX 9c package (Aug 09) after you have installed VDJ on windows 7. Is this necessary.

Yes you do mate.
I installed the DirectX 9c package before I installed and ran VirtualDJ, better be safe than sorry ;)

Can someone explain what it does and how it differs from the version thats installed with Windows 7 which I think is DirectX 11?

You don't need to do it for VDJ to run; but some video plugins are linked against updated libraries that would require the DirectX 9 runtime to be installed as well
DX9 will co-exist with later versions.

Hi,
What's the proper way to install DX9?
If you go to Microsoft and download it, it's installer stops and says that you have the most up-to-date DX11 and it is backwards compatible, so the installer stops.
Thnx
Kevin

I have this problem as well...Windows won't let me install version 9 on either Vista or Windows 7 .
Any fixes?

Same problem here. I've searched up and down and can't seem to find anything on how to removed Directx 11 from 7. I have found info telling me that it can't be removed or downgraded at all. You can remove values from the registry but it will mess things up.

Hi Scott,
I don't want to be rude, but I've asked a question here first, and then messaged you asking for a response and you have not even acknowledged my messages. Now there are many with the same question. You have stated several times that dx9 can co-exist and we just want some instructions on how you have done it. It has been almost a month since I asked here; Is there something I'm doing wrong here??

I thought I had responded; sorry.
The web updater doesn't appear to work for Windows 7.
The full redistributable does, but I can't see it making any difference?

Is it the direct x August 2009 redistributable link above or the March 2009 redistributable that I found at the following link that is a solution to the Windows 7 video freezing problem exhibited in Virtual DJ 6.0.5?

I seem to have solved my video freezing issues previously before finding this thread by installing into Windows 7 the xVid codec that I convert all my videos into and then choosing "Windows MediaPlayer video decoder" for avi files in Virtual DJ. I'd just-a-soon install direct x 9c and go back to the default "Video Decoder" built into Virtual DJ 6.0.5 for avi if that is a sure-fire solution. Can anyone confirm that either of these redistributables is installable along side direct x 11 and a solution to the problem?

I'll try asking again!

The DirectX redist will install alongside just fine. I doubt it would fix the video freezing problem though personally. I'm unable to verify though as I don't suffer from the problem.
