Hey guys,
I used to DJ in my bedroom so I'm okay at mixing with old fashioned decks & vinyl, but I'm completely new to using software like Virtual DJ.
I've read a lot about setting up different headphone outputs, using a second sound card, buying a USB adaptor and all that but it all sounds really complex.
I'm not really looking to use virtual DJ for parties or proper djing events just yet, all I want to do is record mixes to play on my iPhone for the time being, so is there a way that you can listen to the track that you want to cue up without it being recorded?
So for example: I have a track playing on deck 1, and that's the track I want to record. Is there a way that I can still listen to a track on deck 2, but somehow 'hide it' from the recording until I've cued it up, and then 'reveal it' when I'm ready to mix it in as part of the recording?
I hope this makes sense, thanks in advance.

It isn't that complex unless you want it to be. For simple mixing and practicing, I use a Logitech USB headset adapter. In VDJ, in the sound setup in configuration I set "output" as "HEADPHONES" and leave it as "Master: First card/Headphones:Second card". I set "Sound Card" to "2 CARDS" then "Built-in Output" for the first card and "Logitech USB Headset" for the second card.
Start a song on deck one. Move the fader to the left so only deck 1 is going out to the master output, in my example it will be to the builtin soundcard. Now you can put a track on deck two. Press the PFL button on or off for any decks you want to listen in your headsets. Once you you have deck two going, slide the fader back to center or all the way right to get deck two playing out through the master output.
Hope that helps. I tried to be as simple as possible so hopefully I didn't miss to many steps or over simplified it. Just play around with the software until you get the hang of it.
