Last Saturday night I was playing a cashed video file (cupid shuffle) and VDJ just stoped dead, as well as my PC. music and video just stoped. The screen locked up and I had to restart everything. I'm not saying it was the file or VDJ or my PC. I'm asking the powers that be, what their opinion is? There was no crash report.

Complete hardware freeze ??? I would start with looking at an over heating issue.

I had similar issues with my touchscreen setup. The bigger problem is heat buildup problems began long before this crash. The components of the computer are most likely damaged by the excessive heat and will be more likely to have more problems like this down the road. SO while the system might seem fine in the beginning, it's like playing Russian Roulette...

Thank you for your input. I hope that is not the case that this is the start of more problems my laptop is brand new and handles everthing I throw at it. I had always kept an external fan on my Vaio. Should I continue to do the same with the asus?

A fan can't hurt, but I would try to clean the ports. Use compressed air, and use a paper clip, to keep the fan blades from turning.
