Hi everyone. I downloaded a free version of virtual DJ for mac and I noticed a weird sound discrepancy occurring between the two programs. Some songs have a much better sound quality on virtual DJ (i.e. boosted levels etc.) and others have a noticeably thinner sound quality. I I toggled between the two programs and I can't figure out why I'm having this issue. Of note, I had deleted my first version and downloaded another from the same website. Are there different versions of the same virtual DJ program that could cause such problems? I'm just not sure.

I agree. The sound quality output of Virtual DJ is lame. I thought the problem was my new sound board I got a the same time. Nope. I did sound for an event using my old software and the bass was beefy and full like it used to be and wasn't tinny. I tested the same song with my old software (Megaseg 4.5.1) and VirtualDJ Pro Basic 7.0.4 and indeed VirtualDj has a poorer quality sound output. The fullness of sound and bass tones that make the crowd feel the music and the energy were weak, and I had the treble and mids all the way down on my mixer board and they were still too strong. Those highs fatigue people's ears. I feel like my crowd is working too hard to be into the music they used to rage to. This along with a load of other bugs in Virtual DJ (like unprotected AACs and MP3s not working. They get an error report on the deck if I access them though the iTunes playlist in VDJ) that make me have to focus energy on compensating for the software instead of picking and playing the best music.

This is most likely caused by incorrect configuration in VirtualDJ, especially because you have changed your sound card (The settings for your old card in VirtualDJ may not be optimal for the new one.)
Sound quality overall in v7 is actually improved on previous versions of the software, especially the master tempo.
Check your settings in CONFIG -> Performances, in particular master tempo is set to advanced (If you use this) and scratch is set to quality rather than latency.
If you use 48Khz files (Videos) then you may wish to also set this to quality, but this may result in slower loading of videos on lower-specification computers.
If the sound output is too loud, turn down the master volume knob at the top of the main VirtualDJ screen.
If you get 'Error' when trying to load a song, then it means that the song in your database is no-longer valid. This is usually caused by either moving, renaming or deleting the song outside of VirtualDJ, so the entry in its database no-longer points to a valid file.
To fix this problem, use VirtualDJ to browse to the drive(s)/folder(s) where your music is located, right-click on them and choose Add to search DB.
Once you have done this, go to CONFIG -> Browser, choose each drive in turn where you have music stored and click on CHECK.
If any problems are found, click on FIX.
You can remove the old redundant database entries by clicking on CLEAN.
NOTE: To avoid this problem in future, make sure that you do not move or rename songs outside of VirtualDJ. Use the browser in VirtualDJ itself to perform these operations. This will ensure that the database is updated appropriately.
