i'm starting to chop and screw a lot of music and i learned the key to it all is moving the cross fader back and forth.
the only problem i have is that i can't get any of the keyboard shortcuts to setup
I tried linking the space bar to the crossfade, it wouldnt work. I've looked at youtube tut's ect.
Can anyone break it down for me please? getting frustrated.
I have windows 7 laptop, running VDJ 6
would i need to download a skin or anything? thanks

VirtualDJ v6 is an old and out of date version of the software. There have been many changes and improvements to the software since then (See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ_History.html ) - We are now on v7.0.5
Please register your serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then upgrade to the latest version: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
Or purchase the latest version from the following page: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html
If you are using VirtualDJ for home use only without MIDI controllers/timecode/video, then you can download and use VirtualDJ v7 Home from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html - This version can be used completely free of charge for non-commercial home use (It may not be used a DJ gigs where you are being paid.)
You will probably need to map keys to instantly crossfade to the far left and right, e.g:
Map J to: crossfader 0%
Map K to: crossfader 50%
Map L to: crossfader 100%
For basic mapping instructions, please see http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4149/VDJscript_Mapping.html
For more precise and hands-on control, you would be better purchasing an all-in-one MIDI controller with VirtualDJ LE included such as Hercules DJ Console series, Numark MixTrack Pro, etc.: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/hardware.html
These have a real crossfader that you can move by hand as fast as needed.

They were probably using goto to skip forward/backwards by a given number of beats, e.g:
goto -1
goto +1
goto -4
goto +4
