Hi, i have recently archived 100's of cd's to Window's media player, some originals, some cdr's, however, when they appear in VDJ, i have no artist showing, so am unable to search any "various" CD's for specific artists, whereas a Neil Diamond CD is ok, as folder is in his name....have ticked relevant boxes in search facility & checked user manual, but no joy as config seems ok.....any none too technical ideas appreciated....chris

Are they in MP3 format or WMA? As there used to be an issue with all fields displaying with WMA, dont know is this is still the case with VDJ 7.0.5. as all my music is in mp3.
With that in mind what version of VDJ are you using? and is it a legitimate copy! As cracked copys have all sorts of problems!!
Hope this helps,
Ian

Try ripping one of the CDs again but make sure media player is set to rip to mp3 and see if that makes a difference.

Also, try looking at one of the songs to see if there are ID3 tags. You can use a utility like Tag&Rename to look at it and also to edit the tags if necessary. Similarly, you can rename the files themselves based on the tag fields to make the artist info more easily searchable.

Hi, MP3 copy seems to work! as it has artists included on VDJ! Thanx!
Stupidly i have copied 600 cd's in Media Player Audio Format @ 128 kbs! is there any quick way to change these WMP files over to MP3 & a better kb rate? What a DUMBO! Chris

There is software out there that can convert but you cannot change the bit rate now. You should use 320 for the best result for size to ratio.
If you do convert to mp3 and set the bit rate to 320 for ones you have already done they will still only be the original bit rate but might say 320.
Think of it like putting a really old tape on to CD, CD is better but only as good as the source. It’s the same with bit rate.
Glad it helped you out though

Media player allows you to rip to MP3, you just have to change it from WMA in the rip settings

He wants to convert wma to mp3 instead of re-ripping all of his CDs again.
