Hi,
I have a Gemini all in one controller and a Macbook Pro (2010), and I am currently using Virtual DJ LE.
At the moment I only have the ability to mix out loud or on headphones, and do not have the correct equipment to use both headphones (for cues) and speaker at the same time in order to hear the second track coming in.
I am aware that I will need to upgrade to Virtual DJ Pro, which is not an issue, but before I do that, I want to know what additional equipment I will need to purchase to get the full set up working properly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Seth

What model is the controller? Does it have its own built-in sound card? If it's the Gemini CTRL-SIX, please see: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/CTRL-SIX.html
Otherwise, if it does not have its own built-in sound card, please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Pre-listening%20with%20headphones.html

No it's a Gemini CTRL-ONE, and I doubt very much it has its own built in sound card. It is very basic....

Your best options are either to add a basic stereo USB card to allow headphone pre-listening or preferably purchase a proper dedicated DJ sound card such as Numark DJIO, which has outputs for both master and headphones.

Thanks for all the help, it has been really helpful.
Obviously there is a steep price difference in the two options suggested. What differences are there between the two, and is there a sort of mid way product between them?
Thanks,
Seth

The Numark DJIO is a good quality all-in-one solution for master+headphones.
However, there are also cheaper 4-out (2 stereo) cards available.
You may wish to try the basic stereo card option first, however using two separate sound cards (One built into your computer + external) can sometimes cause problems if the two cards are incompatible with each other - Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Distortion%20when%20using%20two%20sound%20cards.html
For live performance, we'd strongly recommend using a proper dedicated DJ sound card such as the Numark DJIO.

Hi,
I would add to get an Echo AudioFire 2 for any Mac or Audiofire4. Those sound cards are firewire and leave your usb ports available for other stuff, also those sound card have rock solid drivers.
You can use A Hercules DJTrim 4&6 too. The DJIO not always give a good sound on Macs. If you want the finest one, then go for an Echo AudioFire sound card, you will be pleased for sure.

Sorry to bring it back from the dust... but I kinda have the same trouble.
Have a MacBook Pro and I use VDJ LE7 that I got with a Gemini CNTRL-2 controller...
I was wondering if I could manage something with that Behringer Audio Interface I already own... It's a U-Control UCA222.

Can someone help ??
Thanks in advance :)

Because the CNTRL-2 has no built-in sound card of its own, you should be able to choose the following to use your existing external sound card:
Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones
Sound card: 2 cards -> Choose the UCA222 in the 1st box and your Mac's internal sound card in the 2nd (Or the other way around depending on which sound card you want to use for master output and which you want to use for headphones.)
If you get distortion, please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Distortion%20when%20using%20two%20sound%20cards.html
