I own the Numark Virtual Vinyl and use it together with the newest version of Virtual DJ Pro. Generally it works OKAY, but definately not great. Here is a bit about my setup and the issues I'm having:
Setup:
Right now i am testing it with my own CDJ400's, but I have also tested with several Pioneer CDJ1000's and had the same experience.
I'm using the Virtual Vinyl CDs provided together with the soundcard.
I'm using smart relative, because I want to be able to use software looping / cue together with my timecodes.
I'm using vinyl mode on my CDJs
1. Cue stabs does not work for me. When i repeatedly tap the cue button, the music does not start from the cue point each time, instead the music stutters forward. Only when i hold down the button for a certain period of time (not a very long period mind you, but it still does not allow very quick cue stabs)
2. I cue up by moving the vinyl slowly back and forth until I hear the downbeat. When i do i press cue to save. But when i start again from the cue point, the music starts slightly after the cue point.
Just for fun, today i tried some of the old timecode engines instead. They do not have these problems, but instead the have some very weird pitch drift issues (place the slider on + or - 0.5% and the pitch keeps drifting), so they are really no good to me either.
So my question to the forum and to the atomix team is:
Is work being done to provide a better timecode engine soon?
Or should i try another source (I read in the timecode guide that the Serato noisemap should be the preferred for vinyls, is the same true for CDs?)
OR do any of you awesome forum geeks have a quick fix for this issue?
