Hi guys,
Does anyone know if there is an issue with running two asio soundcards connected at the same time to a laptop when using Virtual DJ?
I'm using Virtual dj 7 Pro and I recently bought a Denon DJ MC3000 to replace my Hercules mk2 which I had for five years.
I want to be able to broadcast to a server for internet radio using virtual dj and simultaneously record to audacity. I managed this with my last setup by using a fast track pro soundcard to reroute the signal back from an external mixer to virtual dj and audacity.
I'm now trying to use the advanced configuration by setting:
Master to Denon dj asio driver (to control the outgoing sound)
and
Record Loopback to M Audio Usb asio (to control the sound coming back in)
It doesn't like it though and says the configuration is wrong. I've been messing around with settings and getting a weird thing where the tracks play at double quick speed with no sound. Haven't had that in five years of messing around with virtual dj so leads me to think the pc hates the dual asio combo.
Any thoughts?
Cheers.
Bob

Normally you shouldnt have an issue, unless those ASIO drivers are set to different frequency e.g. one set to 44.1Khz and the other to 48.
Please attach here a screenshot of the Sound Setup you are trying to use.

I've just had a thought that I am not using the same usb port for the denon that i set it up with but I am with the fast track pro. Going to reinstall them both and stick the correct usb port.
Will get back to you shortly.

Ok so reinstalled both drivers and sticking to same usb ports for each soundcard.
Checked to see if the sample rates were the same and they were not. 44.1 on the fast track and 48 on the denon. One was on 16 bit and the other 24bit too so changed them both to the same thing but still no joy.
I have attached pics of the vdj setup and one of the two soundcard driver setups.

Hmm it seems that the inputs somehow are shown as MONO .
Try this..
enable the Mono Channels from the top of the Advanced Sound setup.
Create 4 lines...
Master ... Denon... Outs 1
Master..Denon...Outs 2
Recordloopback.. M AUdio..input 1
Recordloopback.. M audio.. input 2
and see if that helps.
Btw, Why are you using the M Audio and the Recordloopback for recording ? f you use the Denon Mc300 as pure midi, you should be able to record internally.

Will give that go thanks.
I'm using the maudio so that I can record and broadcast on the radio at the same time and use my mic.
If I use virtual dj to broadcast and the denon soundcard I don't think it picks up the mic signal as this is analogue and not picked up the software. If I use maudio I can take all of the audio that leaves the denon and route that back in to record and broadcast.
That's the theory anyway!

No joy with the mono settings.

This is strange. Just thought I would try again to run only with the denon in midi setting to see if I could get the mic working.
I still think I need to record loopback but just using the denon and not the maudio so set up as follows:

But it still didn't work. It seems if I set up the advanced configuration screen with the master set as denon asio in any way it doesn't like it. Even with no record loopback setup.
Why would that be? It doesn't have a problem if I set it up as this:

This is the error message I get if I set any of the parts in the advanced configuration screen to point at Denon usb asio. Even if I replicate the exact setting that it accepts as seen on my previous post.

There are some more reports (and I've run into the same thing with my MC6000) about configuring the Denon in Advanced Config. I just can't get it to work in Advanced mode with ASIO. Use the WDM-drivers instead, that will do the trick.

I've read some other reports now too. Somehow a conflict between denon at 48khz and VDJ at 44khz.
I'm not sure what you mean by the WDM drivers?
What would the setup be like?

Do you mean the laptop drivers? like primary sound driver?
The built in soundcard on my laptop is shit and so I normally use the maudio fast track pro to handle the sound. But I can't get that to work in conjunction with the denon asio driver in advanced config.
I can get the denon to work in midi on its own and I can get the maudio to handle the sound with the denon just as a controller but I can't do both.
argh.
