This was done a while ago, but I think most can relate. Take a look here.

BS... whilst pop music tends to still have the same underlining maths, as a pop DJ I've never known it to be so diverse. Yes we get a copy of 1 track for 3 months but then we get something completely different, especially from a sound design perspective..
I once seen a video, which i thought this was going to be, but wasn't... where the presenter points out how, when we go to see a doctor, he doesn't try something new and fresh, with the reference being, pop music is quite similar because we've got so good at making it. Like the doctor, we know what works.
It's also pointed out that those memes we often see comparing hits from the past to say a Bieber record, how those same artists had just as ridiculously simple tracks as hits, all the years ago.
The guy in that video is a complete tool!!!
The truth of the matter is... The science of pop music was figured out a long time ago. To compare it to Mcdonalds is insulting and completely opposite.

I don't think it's BS.
I didn't watch the whole video but I do think that the (popular chart) music of nowadays doesn't hold up in comparison to the hits of old.
There are several reasons for this. For starters, anyone can make music now. Even on a phone.
There are apps that can produce results from just finger movements on a touch screen, and it's all in key and musically correct. No talent needed.
Taking it up a level, a track can be produced from just a laptop with some DAW software. Everything is included. Samples, synths, effects. It's all "in the box".
In days gone by, if you wanted to put a record out, you needed to go to a recording studio, be able to play or sing, be able to understand chords, keys, composition. Have plenty of money to pay for the studio, other musicians, pressing and distribution of the physical media (or have a record deal).
It used to require talent, hard work and a lot of money. Now anyone can do it, and they do. They can knock up a track in a few minutes and have it for sale online a short while later, having spent very little (if any) money or effort.
At my day job, we have the radio on. There are certain channels that we just can't bear to listen to for any length of time. One I nicknamed "the AutoTune channel".
Of course good music does still exist. There are still talented singers and musicians. But there's also an awful lot of generic poop.

Shame non of that actually exists that way in the real world... Although the tools are there for everyone, those are not the people making the pop tracks of today. If anything, those tools being available have raised the bar. To make it, one has to be exceptionally good at the craft... I know many failed producers (I am one) and a few successful ones too, non of them are Skrillex, Diplo, Max Martin etc.
Even throwing big money at songs intodays market wont get it to the top, if the right boxes aren't ticked. That's why they needed things like Xfactor, pop idol, to brake new artists.
Your tastes may dictate that to you the music is worse but that is subjective to you. Because the music is not as you'd expect through your experiences of experiencing it in your youth. There are lots of studies into the phenomena, I call it old man syndrome.

Entirely, a hack from a ultra right wing conspiracy website, publishing total lies, pieces were quotes are taken completely out of context.
Pieces that would be illegal under racial hatred laws if the work didn't start as a posed question.
The kind of idiot that would yell fire in a crowded theatre, and defend his actions as free speech.

The Beatles changed a lot..and also started their own recording studio, and label.
Those that control the music industry will not allow musicians to again become that powerful.
Almost stupid musicians are a requirement of the music business moguls.
The Beatles were far to clever.
There is a political angle in our music which needs consideration.
Musicians who express political views have almost become obsolete.
It took death to stifle John Lennon.
His words still echo to this day.
Music should reflect the values, and experiences of the communities in which it is born.
However a universal music has been created which is sold as mainstream across the world.
Have a look at the pop charts of nations as far apart as Brazil, and Germany.
Quite often the same artists dominate.
Music has always been a way of transmitting a message, and today it often operates on a sophisticated subliminal level using sound, image, and video.
Yep..brainwashing.

I got say I agree with this guy.
I listened to an interview from Ryan Tedder and he pretty confirmed what this guy said. There is a recipe for pop music.
When asked to go into more detail about it he wouldn't do it but he has wrote songs for many top pop artist (Madonna, U2, Adele, Beyoncé, Maroon 5, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez, Westlife, One Direction and Taylor Swift).
Thanks for sharing.
