Wondering can anyone help..? Using VD7. External hard drive is not showing up in my drop down folder when I go to config>browser.
I can search for songs but when I load them they have an error and won't play.this only started happening last week. Cheers

what format is the drive?

if its ntfs then it will not be read natively by mac, it would need to be fat or fat32.

however you can also use tuxera, or paragon ntfs to force mac to read the drive.

if it is already formatted to a mac compatible format i would say there is an error on the drive.

do:

go > utilities > disk utility

and see it it appears on there, if so and its a mac compatible format, you can run first aid on the drive which will check for errors and if they can be fixed without loss of data.

if it can be read by or was formatted on a windows machine then i suggest again using tuxera of paragon , or alternatively, back up the drive and re format to a filesystem that is compatible with both mac and windows.

what i did was create a full backup of my hdd onto an osx formatted hdd. now i have platform specific hard drives.

any new music is added to both drives and each system deals with it accordingly.

Actually MAC's CAN READ NTFS drives, but not write to them without an assistance software like Paragon NTFS.

Anyway, if the drive was working before this means that it has nothing to do with NTFS filesystem (if the drive is formatted as NTFS)

Quick questions:
1) Does the drive appear on Desktop ?
2) Are you able to access the drive contents on Finder ?
3) Does the drive has the same name as before ?
4) Search for a file that's not loading (shows error when you try to load), right click on it (or CMD+Click) and select "Tag Editor". Look at the bottom. It should show the path it expects to find the file. Can you browse on that location via Finder ?
