I am currently running my VDJ with the Numark Mixdeck Express, which has worked very well.
Looking for a new controller offering more creative functions than the basic ones the Mixdeck has.
All the controllers out now only state SERATO or Rekordbox, and it has me wondering how well they interface with VDJ.
My concern is that certain pads or controls on a controller may only work with SERATO features, leaving them useless with VDJ.
Is that an accurate assumption?
Since I am not a club DJ or one that does heavy remixing, I'm looking for a controller that is less than $1000.
Any recommendations?

Take a look at the Supported Controllers page on the VDJ wiki. Plenty of controller choice there. Anything listed is fully supported and mapped in VDJ.
