I have a new controller and want to use it with my existing VirtualDJ license. How to I change it from my old Pioneer Wego to my new XDJ-R1 or doesnt it matter?

You can't. You have to buy a new controller version for exactly your controller.
Or better, just buy the Pro Infinity version and you can use whatever controller you want (if it is supported by VDJ).

This is for anyone else that may be in a similar situation. If you are the type of person that buys a piece of equipment, and will use it for a lifetime, buy a controller license. However, If you know that you like to grow, and continue to upgrade your equipment and skills, get the pro license, and never have to worry about it again. They have also supported most new controllers, even though it may take some time. In that case, do what I do. Don't buy a controller until it's supported.
