I have a Mac book pro OS High Sierra 10.13.4

When connected to a LaCie External hard drive, VDJ crashes every time I use the search bar to find a track. I have also used a brand new LaCie SSD External Drive and the same problem occurs. Any advice would be most welcome please

So i have been trying a few things to try and establish what is causing the issue.

1. Removed file date column and software still crashes.
2. With a WD passport ext hard drive. It doesnt crash, but the search is slow and can freeze the screen
3. When i type Z or X in the search bar it doesn't crash.

So i'm thinking it may be its a corrupt file? Anyone had similar problems that might be able to help?

Is there any quick way of identifying corrupt files?

No crash report has been uploaded to our servers, so either you were not connected to Internet at that time or its a Mac-System crash.
When this occurs, do you get a freeze and have to quit manually, or does VDJ restart automatically ?
Does the WD Ext HD, have the same database and same files ?
What format do the Ext Hard Drives have ? Both are in Fat ?

Hi

Thanks for response.

With the WD external drive when it freezes and i have to quit programme, but at least music continues to play.

With both Lacie external drives it crashes and quits, and it does not reopen itsself.

Im away from home at present, but i think drives are fat. I will check tonight and add to post.
I will also ensure internet connected and logged on to vdj.
Thanks

So update on issue...

I deleted all files from external drive and then reformatted the ext drivei in 'Fat' this seems to have sorted the crashing issue.

Dj Dad can you clarify if these drives should be formatted in exfat and not fat?

If you use these drives on Windows computers among with your MAC then you should format them as exFAT.
Otherwise you should format them as MAC OS Extended (journaled)

FAT32 is NOT recommended these days under any circumstances
