I did a search for this issue and was unable to locate anything. So here is the problem I'm having, I have a Samson USB microphone and what happens is that the mic will cut out for a sec and this can happen many times, now I have also tried a Yeti microphone and I get the same problem, so I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue with running windows 7 and having the USB mic plugged into the computer directly,

What are the specs for your computer and can you post a picture of your audio configuration?

Honestly I was hoping something in your config would stand out as being under spec but nothing looks wrong to me.
I’ve never used a USB mic myself and not sure if that’s the issue or not - I’ve always used either my controller (a Denon MC-6000) or a Behringer USB sound card to get mic inputs into the PC and never had a problem with that approach.
I hope someone else here has some sage advice.

windows tend to change the default playback/recording devices when a USB audio device is connected (at least for the first time you do that).
Try to set your computer's built-in Mic/LineInput as default recording device for your Operating system (instead off the USB) and see if that helps

Hi djdad,
So before I tried what you suggested this is what I noticed in the AUDIO SETTINGS screen, under the Inputs section where it says mic - Yeti Stereo Microphone (WASAPI) - chan 1 & 2 - 44.1k 20ms 2i / In the box where it says 44.1k 20ms 2i, I noticed that every 25 seconds in says reconnecting and when I am using the microphone that is when it drops for 1 or 2 second and it does that every 25 seconds. After I changed the default recording device to the built in mic/line the problem was still there.
