Hi,

I've been trying to figure this out but it is not 100% clear to me. Can I steam to things like FB Live and Twitch with a Home Plus license or do I need Pro?

Many Thanks.

yes you can ;-)

Only radio servers need a pro license (webradio).
For personal social media broadcasting, that will work fine with Home Plus

you can stream with home+ to twitch, mixcloud etc, but don't count on facebook, october 1st facebook is making their copywrite rules even stricter than they are now.

They seem to have misunderstood the new rules at best, or clickbait news article at worst. Guess Covid-19 days might be slow .. ;-)

The new rules have zero to do about music, and also zero changes in that regards.
The new roles are solely about "fake news", conspiracy theories and other attempt at trying to meddle with elections, contradict sound medical advice etc etc.
Bottom line being that FB is doing this as attempt to avoid regulatory actions against them...

The specific music related rules that they site as part of that, are unchanged, and have been so for years :

Streaming on Facebook is likely to be unchanged,. and if anything work better and better as they are making deals with the labels

IMO there should be more articles like that, which make it clear to people that they shouldn't be doing it.

If the rules about music are unchanged "and have been for years" then it ought to be perfectly clear that DJs should not be using Facebook as their own personal radio station.

Copyright exists for a reason. Terms & conditions exist for a reason. You can't just do what you want with somebody elses music.

One may be able to "get away with it" by using YouTube - but that's only because YouTube have been put in the position of having to pay fees due to so many people uploading copyrighted material. They may be paying fees, but that doesn't give anyone permission to abuse/misuse the service.

duh!
Obviously Facebook and others need rights to the music on their platform. Something they are in process of requiring.
And according to news articles, and even music rights agencies, they have that already in many parts of the world, work in progress..
So likely its just going to get better and better, not worse ;-)

Anyways, totally off topic, the question user had was if he can use Home plus, and YES he can ;-)

Please ensure you follow the terms of use and copyright requirements of each respective platform.

On Facebook those terms include:
"You may not use videos on our Products to create a music listening experience"

Re: Off topic - I was merely responding to your post, which was "off topic" first.
