Can I take a settings file(settings.xml?) from my old computer and move it to my new computer that will transfer all my settings. It will be the same versions of VDJ.

that may work. rarely not, there may be issues with audio config and mathengine
if only audio does not work reset audio settings (new config) on new pc
if it crashes VDJ :
save the "old" xml file
edit settings to set audio to default and mathengine to auto
copy new file to new pc
then edit your audio config
restore original xml in old pc
