Tema: Releasing or De-activating all cameras

Hallo everyone.

Activating the effect slot of a camera claims the camera(s) for the rest of the VirtualDJ session. Deactivating the effect (camera) does not release the camera from the plugin for another application to use. Only when shutting down will VDJ release the camera(s).
This seems is a bug. Are there any known work arounds (I.e. not having to relaunch VDJ)?
Any help would be appreciated.

This is a side effect of something asked for a long time : unload slot
The workaround is
- be sure to close GUI
- disable the plugin
- load any other one in the slot
this way the plugin is really closed and unloaded from plugin stack

Just have to unload/release it from the FX slot, else its still in use ("idle")
Can easily script a turn off & release the camera all in one go.. to a custom button or keyboard key

deck master video_fx "camera" off  & effect_show_gui "camera" off & video_fx_select "text"

Thanks for the response guys!
However, the suggestions provided did not release the camera.
Once a camera is accessed it remains bound to VDJ until I quit the program.
Where do I log a bug report with Automix?

The solution offered does not work for me either. Maybe now something can be done about it, it also bother me quite a bit.

maybe camera is loaded in another deck but master
camera is freed only once all instances are unloaded

Even if I only start VDJ and only turn the cam on and off, the cam stays on and turns off only when I close VDJ.

yes, that's why selecting another effect instead of "camera" is needed
if it's master, make sure "Video Source" is something else too
and no other deck have it in a slot...
(that's only a workaround! SURE SOMETHING HAVE TO BE DONE)

Until now, the image just goes on and or without problems, but the cam does not separate from VDJ, not even with the workaround of Rune. I really can't get a finger on it, but I will not give up, maybe I will find something that works.

Thanks for contributing ideas.

Well, there is another possibility that prevents plugin to unload
(or more effectively that makes the plugin reload before previous instance was closed)
if you have a pad/button/key which needs to get info from plugin (any of its parameters)
if it's a pad, just select another padpage may be enough, but not with a button or a key map
the plugin will reload every time in a way to give the information back and keep the camera locked

I think the best way would be to make the selector able to select any camera or none
make screengrab a camera entry could be an alternative

Nicotux, thank you for this info.

I now only use pad page STEMS and can manage the camera unload according to Rune rules. I hope there is a fix coming soon now.
