Tema: Real-Time Stems Separation / Desktop PC graphics card recommendation
I looked for detailed information on the matter but I didn't find much, what should be evaluated to determine if a video card is better than another in preparing the stems in real time? cuda cores?

I currently have an nvidia rtx 3060 ti, do you think the rtx 4060 ti is better for calculating the stems in real time? I'm not sure, the 3060 ti has 256 bit memory and I think more cuda cores, the 4060 ti has more recent technologies for games, I don't know if VDJ could benefit from raytracing or dssl.

what do you think? can you help me understand? and what about AMD is it good for VDJ? Which model could be better for me as I have an RTX 3060 Ti?

thanks, I would like to understand

From my experience and some stats i keep, you wont see much difference from 3060 to 4060, but you will definitely see a lot more speed (nearly double) if you move to 3080

I recently got the Asus Zenbook X16 OLED laptop with RTX4080 (mobile version) and it calculates realtime stems at around 40x so a 3 minute track calculates in less than 5 seconds.

Just to give you an idea.

thank you

How does AMD behave?

Some rough speeds..

RTX 2060: 10x
RTX 2070: 12x
RTX 2080: 15x
RTX 3060: 15x
RTX 3060Ti: 20x
RTX 3070: 22x
RTX 3080: 30x
RTX 4080: 40x

Really useful. I assume these are all mobile variants ( as desktop GPUs are very infrequently used I suspect)?

These are indeed for the mobile ones. (and the fastest in our stats, laptop manufacturers can install the same card with a lower power limit depending on their design, so on some laptops it may be a little slower than these numbers)
We do have stats for the desktop ones as well though, with the 4090 reaching up to 84x

Anything around 15x or faster and it won't really matter anymore for practical use though, as it will be ready faster than you can skip around in the song.

This is crazy. I have a 1660 ti and have zero issues with stems. None.. Real-time and zero problems.

Indeed, 1660 Ti should be capable of ~13x as well, so should not be any issue for real-time use.

The original poster didn't really post what issue he had specifically with his 3060 though

what do you think of AMD?

Also fine, Radeon RX 5600 XT does 15x
But what's the problem with your 3060 exactly?

no problem with the 3060 ti, I wanted to understand if switching to 4060 ti was a good idea. I understand that nothing changes for VDJ

The only thing that changes is the speed that the stems are calculated in realtime is faster.

I want to buy a laptop capable for realtime Stems

I guess something with a 3060 or 4060 will be super
How about 3050s and 4050s ??
Integrated graphics from Amd like Radeon 780M and others or from Intel like Iris Xe ?
Do we have numbers for all of this?

Go 3060 upwards basically. On chip integrated graphics won't work at all and the xx50 series cards are weak.

As stated above my RTX4080 laptop does around 40x real time speed and you can get that card in a laptop for a decent price now.

Thanks for the info...

About your laptop I'm sure that is perfect but I don't think that 4000e is a decent price for everybody..

I hope I'll find a a laptop with 3060 or 4060 around 900-1000e

I use a 3060 and use Stems all the time (every time i mix and i often mix already into a new song very fast, often also in between songs, ...) and this is certainly fast enough for me.

I must say that i had quite some trouble about a year ago, they had to do with power settings after a Windows upgrade. Now all seems to work fine.
