I use the scheduler with an action to run a script at 11:59:58. No matter what I am doing, be it automix or spinning, it should work. It starts the break effect and waits 2 seconds before loading and playing the desired countdown track. Mine is ten minutes long. The extra two seconds in the schedule work in conjunction with the wait time to allow the break to complete and still start the track at the right time so it sounds off at midnight.
This was just a quick and dirty solution for a last min party I was invited to.
I am curious what other solutions people have.
