What kind of performance can I expect with a GF 7800GT ? 256MB DDR3 Ram, PCI-E.
I assume this will be so much better than my 6600 with SDR ram, correct?

Is the 7800GT the way to go, or would I be better off with a 6600GT or 6800GT ?

First of all we recommend the N-Vidia 6600GT not the 6600 alone. A 7800GT and a 6600GT are the same, but the 7800GT has a Memory Bus of 256 bit and 6600GTa Memory Bus of 128 bit.
Both use DDR 3, Both have a Memory Clock of 1000MHz.
If you really want to improve, you have to go for the 7800GTX and not for 7800GT. With that you got a Memory Clock of 1200MHz and a 256bit Memory Bus plus all the other known features.
