In October of last year I bought a MK1 which had a manufacturer defect. The unit was return and I got a MK2 as the replacement, which I fell inlove with. I've been using this unit since December of last year without any issues or problems whatsoever.
Today, as usual, I decided to use my MK2 on my home PC after a gig last night which it worked flawlessly on my Laptop. Upon connecting the USB cable, I was prompted for a firmware update which I found a bit odd but I said hey, its close to a full year now so maybe Hercules came out with a new update for the MK2. I proceeded in holding the 3 left buttons on the control for the firmware to be updated and to my dimise, the freakin unit started misfunctioning. All that has happened since is that each and every light stays constantly on on nothing else when I connectt he USB cable. I need HELP here and what I've read so far is very disturbing. HELP PLZ>>>>>>>????

Yes, maybe the error ocurred during firmware updating, try update it again but if it can't, than you should contact Hercules to see if they can help you out.

Whats the procedure for updating the firmware, I uninstalled the drivers, then re-installed them, it prompted me to plug the unit, did that but its still non-responsive, all that happens is that the lights just stay constantly on, NOTHING!!!!

Can you use the device as a normal sound card at this point? Also, the DJ console in the system tray, right click and try the "Check for updates".

Upto now I havent gotten my Hercules MK2 to start working...I find it so strange for a company to allow a novice user to flash "firmware". This is a very, very sensitive module of any device which should locked from the user unless proper instructions are available. Guess I just learnt the HARDWAY unfortunately....

I have a few more ideas
1) Take the console to another PC and install/update the drivers on that PC. There just might be an issue with your Windows install or motherboard.
2) Try another USB cable on console and install drivers.
3) Try using external power supply on console, or use a powed USB hub when installing drivers. Maybe the power from USB is lacking!

hay man i had the same thing happen to me but now i fixed it try this link it worked for me i had to change it from 2300 to 2400 .... now this was for the mk1 http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/31/Hardware_Technical_Support.html?search=directinput+error
