Aplogies for starting a new thread ofr this, I couldn't find my old one.

I have now pre-analyzed all my music, but VDJ still doesn't seem to be able to get control over the gain. Is there something else I should be doing?

The problem I have is when I mix in some tracks VDJ does adjust the gain but often not enough or too much, is this just a limitation of the software? Is there an app or plugin that can equalize gain across multiple files?

Thanks fellas

what gain settings did you pick mate
am i right to say it was always match

and you did it with the any music algorithm?

Hi mate, seems like you're my personal support contact! ;-)

I analyzed with any music and I've tried both always match and always 0db and on both VDJ deffo does some adjusting it's just that it's often wide of the mark.

I just noticed the same trend in my mp3s. I started a new suscription service and the mp3 files are all mostly 192k. Now when I play the old 128k files, there's noticebly a difference in quality and gain which VDJ does not seem 2 compensate. Now my fear is If I up the old several thousand files to say 192k, U can imagine re-analyzing these files and also knowing that some of then were manually adjusted. The database utility has never seem to work 4 me. Bummer!

So is it the differing bitrates that causes the gain differences?

yes i think so

VDJ can't compensate for quality differences in 128k vs 192k coded mp3s

But as far as gain goes, try reanalyze.
If the files where analyzed in a old version of VDJ, and the new files in the newer VDJ versions, chances are that gain-detection is better in later versions, leaving a difference between old files and new files.

So is there a way to say 're-sample' my files so they play at the same volume? I play on the FM band in london and this is kinda critical to me.

any help apreciated

im afraid you cant put back what has been removed

ie droping down to 192 from 320

you will need to take all of your music down to 129 with an mp3 converter program

if you want to do this

which station btw im a londoner :)

Right so if I understand, I can't increase the bitrate only decrease? Damn that's not good news. :-(

Thanksfor the tip. I'm off to have a look

What im doing is is using a eq to bump up the freq.

Thing is with my mixes os that a song might be in for anything between 30 seconds and 2 mins certainly no longer than 3 ins, which leaves me doing a lot of EQing which to be honest also has to be dead on, because my station broadcasts at a certain volume if I mess with that I'll be 'homeless' :(

a few questions concerning auto gain

i have some issues, too
not so bad with my mp3s, but a lot with my video clips

here are my questions,

- the gain is saved with the other infos(bpm, cues, comments etc.) in the database, right ?
- i'm not sure, but i think changing the performance settings sometimes influences the gain, too, am i wrong ?

depending on the above...
just a few thoughts

how about a option next to auto gain, like reanalyse gain (everytime you load a new track)
or inside the browser, have another option when you right click the mouse
maybe under analyse, have techno/house, any music & gain
so you can reanalyse old gain settings without disturbing your bpm settings

what do you think ?

happy vdjing,
matt

maybe also have an option, which makes it possible also to save the gain settings
when you save the database

so, you can adjust the wrong gain settings and save them
which means next time you load the song "your" gain setting will be applied
