I just figured out that the reason my external soundcard was not working every once in a while was b/c the firewire port is slightly damaged inside.
So we spent 5 hours figuring this and changing the connectin to use my Express card/ 6 pin firewire.
We got the blue light (synched) to STAY on the external soundcard so I thought I was home free.
Plugged in tonight at home and here is my problem.
When hooked up to the expresscard, all sound coming from my computer using the external soundcard is practically not coming out at all, just little spatterings of nothing,
When I unplugged it and used the firwire 4 pin port it sounded great (but of course cut out after a few minutes becuase of damage to the port)
WOuld anyone know the real technical answer as to why the express port is not working like the 4 pin firewire port?

try dissabiling the damaged internal port
