Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

K, so I got myself a DVD of just videos, and I go to load one of the discs, and my cpu won't play the dvd nor will it play the vob when I take it off the disc. It could be that I just reformatted this computer, and did all the updates, but wtf? now I need sometihng else??

BTW I just loaded up Sony Vegas, and it doesn't even give .VOB files in the import file type list, what gives??????

What DVD is this? What program did you try to play it in, Power DVD or what? What software did you use to rip the DVD onto your hard drive?

its also good to know that VOB files are only mpeg2 files (mpeg), so even if some program doesnt like the VOB extention, its still just mpeg file. Just rename the extention of the file ... :)

You would of course need a mpeg2 decoder on your PC, included in the codec pack above, and most program intended for video, have codecs with them (dvd players, video editors etc)

Yo, i'm having a brain fart. HOW do I rename the extension? I can't just hit 'rename', it only allows me to rename the file name only, not the extension.

Hi,

You need to change your folder options within windows control panel.

For reference:

click the windows "start" button

click "control panel"

click "folder options"

click on the "view" tab

untick the box that says "hide extensions for known file types"

click ok.

Sorted! :)

Now you can rename a whole filename (including the extension)

What gives is you have to use the drop down box : Files of Type:

You select "All Files" and then you will see the VOB files and Sony loads them just fine.
(Why Sony did this?... dang if I know.
