Thats the part I don't understand, looking through the changelog. It could of course just be a coincidence...

Hello Dlearious,

Sudden audio distortions may be the symptom the VirtualDJ suddenly lacks CPU ressources at the moment the distortion appear: can you check if you have let no background tast which suddenly wakes up and takes the CPU time the software needs.
For example, check if you also have this audio distortion after disabling wifi, internet access, network access, antivirus, firewall, and automatic index (Open Accessories > Windows Explorer. In Windows Explorer, right click on the storage letter ( as C:) and select Properties. Uncheck the "Index this drive for faster searching option" setting, click Apply and repeat the same operation on all hard drives).

Hello there,

I use the mix lab skin which has the visual CPU meter. Nothing, out of the ordinary to report on that front. No anti virus or anything installed as the laptop is never connected to the net or my network for reliability and security.

Whats strange is it only happens when I use my Vestax VCI 300 and not when I timecode (timecoding uses a lot more cpu)....

Cheers

Dan

If you are using a VCI-300, then you are probably using ASIO4ALL to emulate ASIO, which due to lack of manufacturer-provided drivers is the only way to be able to utilise the built-in sound card.

This is not true ASIO and is a software emulation, so requires more resources than a true ASIO capable card would require.

Also, I have recently come across another user who had a similar problem using the beta ASIO4ALL driver. If you are using the beta driver, try uninstalling it and use the latest stable (Non-beta) driver instead.

Hey,

Yes thats right im using ASIO4ALL, I was using the beta driver originally and I was getting stuttering but then downgraded as you mentioned and everything appeared to be working fine for 6 months, now in the last week or so, this issue has just cropped up.

Im reading some of these posts, and sounds alot like the problems i am having. I recently noticed some distortion on deep base songs, only on playback of recorded mixes. If i play live, no problems. I believe my computer is more than capable. I am using VDJ LE with micxtrackpro numark controller with built in sound card. and yes I have been using the keylock, havent tested without the keylock.

signe frustrated wanna be dj! can anyone assist?

You should keep the keeplock to about 12%. If you have it at 33%, you will certainly have distorted sounds.

VirtualDJ LE is limited software, so you will probably be using the fast master tempo algorithm. This is more simple and uses less CPU, but as a result will produce more sound artefacts.

The advanced stretching algorithm in VirtualDJ v7.x Pro gives considerably improved sound when using keylock. If your LE is v7.x, you can try it out by activating the 20 day Pro trial (If you've not already used it) and then go to CONFIG -> Performances.

If you've already used the trial, you can try it out in Home FREE, but use of a controller such as MixTrack is limited to 10 minutes at a time: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html

You can upgrade from MixTrack LE to the full Pro at a discount by going to http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html and entering the LE serial number in the box provided.

NOTE: Even the best master tempo/keylock algorithm will not sound good at extreme pitch ranges (> +/- 12%)
