Hi,
I want to use the best possible XLR cable for running sound. (Mixer to a powered speaker) Can anyone recommend the best quality 25 ft XLR cable? Thanks

Which one of these cables is best for running sound to a powered speaker for a 25 ft distance. Is the Boutique - ProCo Merlin Series Cables with Neutrik Connectors overkill?

i know there is a difference. but only for certain types of speakers.
it doesn't matter for 2 way speakers. any $20 for 20 ft cable is the same.
for 3 way speakers there is a huge difference. in which case i could recommend going with thick cables such as 'Monster'.

Thick cables aren't so important, he's not sending full audio signals like to passive speakers. By far the best way is to use a good quality balanced mic cable like Proel or Klotz and make up your own leads using genuine Neutrik connectors.

You might go crazy when I say this but Skytronic do some good leads unbeleivably.

I agree with TopHouse. Neutrik connectors only (for me). Another option is to use a combined power / xlr cable. These two wires are combined in 1 rubber cable, so you will need to run only 1 cable to your powered speaker. If you like, i could post some links.

Same here with tophouse n superstorm. Use Neutrik connectors for the xlr.

I second TopHouse too. The quality will be in the connectors and not so much in the wire. Here is some good info about wire and monster:

I would like to use Neutrik connectors but the EV 360A has XLR as the connection.

I gave the artical a read http://gizmodo.com/363154/audiophile-deathmatch-monster-cables-vs-a-coat-hanger
I have seen many things like this in the past.
Thanks for the contribution. I would just like to say that coat hangers are a really good conducter and its not suprising that you can't tell the diffrence but then do you want to solder 50 coat hangers together and go out with them?

But Neutrik make XLR's, AND jacks and most other audio type connectors.

How often do you see leads that don't have Neutrik connectors fitted? never in the UK so it's not really an issue, I don't know what it's like in the US.

Yeah, it will be difficult to carry that.

I was thinking speakon connectors when you said Neutrik. So you recommend using XLR connectors made by the Neutrik brand.

How about Live Wire XLR cables?

For their price, they are the best. I do my own cables with Neutrik brand connectors (1/4 plugs and XLR's).

yes, I only use Neurik: Xlr, Jack, Speakon, Powercon (these are very nice), cinch and even the Usb chassis parts.
Had some xlr cables included with a piece of equipment once (with other than Neutrik connectors). One felt on the ground and broke in several pieces, never had this with wih Neutrik ones. Some of the connectors I have for more than 15 years.
