Marze has been in the Aotearoa DJ community for over 10 years, influenced by his big sister’s vinyl collection and her love of Hip Hop music. Honing his craft in the Dunedin scene creating positive club vibes and solidifying his place amongst the NZ music underground supporting heavyweights Beau Jeffries and Max Dad E (Dudstown Recordings), DJ Shan and DJ Sirvere (S.A.S), Scribe, Sidney Diamond, Smashproof, Dei Hamo, Savage, Devolo (Deceptikonz), Six60 and Maseo (De La Soul).
Co-founding Leaky Hut Productions in 2006 with childhood friend Munz, the pair had a vision to form a community of like-minded creatives. Melbourne is now Marze’s record store. His introduction to indigenous artists started a journey of connection through culture, language and relatable storytelling. Networks developed into projects with Seeka, Gekkz, Lady Lash, and Bad Apples Music rappers Birdz, Philly, Nooky and Briggs. This taking Marze across Australia supporting A.B. Original, The Funkoars, Thundamentals, L-Fresh the Lion, Mathas, Joelistics and Coda Conduct. 2015/16 had Marze playing his part at Spirit Festival, Naranafest, Yalukit Wilum Ngargee, End of the Line Festival, Big Chill Fest and was capped off with a tour of his homeland which flowed into performances at Woodford Folk Festival with hard rocker Ezekiel Ox and an Australian east coast tour on their road trip back to Melbourne.
Marze remains loyal to his networks across Australia and New Zealand. Maintaining a sustainable life doing the things he loves most. Capable of sharing knowledge, experience and strengthening ties to his and others’ culture in creative expression. Proving passion, attitude and commitment can make this life fulfilling in every way.
