@ Support...it appears that whilst the ION Discover is natively supported in VDJ, the sysexid's seem to differ across units - this is also true of the Mixmeister controller, as I have found with the Numark Mixmeister controller mapping I created.

One advantage of having the device files available, is that people can run MIDITRACE and alter the sysexid, but alas, when a device is natively supported, there is no access to the device files - unless I've missed something.

I'd be interested to talk to someone from Numark (I believe there is an association between Numark and ION) regarding the assignment of sysexid's to the units they ship

It is possible to account for this by including ?? in the appropriate places in the sysex ID. Normally the last 4 bytes before the F7 will contain the version number and may change from one unit to another due to different firmware.

The definition for the Discover DJ already takes this into account and should work with the ID posted above.

@ support...could you give examples of wildcarding the sysexid...as this would make the mapping I created a little less problematic to setup for those that are unsure of altering XML files.

Using the example posted above, you might use:

sysexid="F07E??060200013F11001900010000007F7F7F7F004E03010000074901020308????????F7 "

Replace bytes that are known to change from one firmware to another with ?? - Usually this is the last 4 bytes (8 hexadecimal digits), but this is not always the case for all controllers.

You will need to login with the Username (login) and password on the pop-up Login window that will appear on launch in order to unlock the specific controller.
You should then be able to see the name of the device in the Licenses tab of Config (inside the Current licenses box), and the controller properly detected in the Config->Controllers tab.
Please also make sure the "factory default" is selected from the Mappings list for the controller.
