Tópico: BEATGRID HOW DOES THIS THING WORK?

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hi,

I just got the HERCULES DJ MP3 awsome! I've been raving for years and always wanted to have my own mixer I can play with!

I got it with VIRTUAL DJ 3.4 and I can't make something sound good with the FX called BEATGRID and even if I do it's not realy in purpose coz I don't quit get what represent the four horizontal lines and what it means if a box is blue or yellow.

Help! I need some help!!

You can make different beat patterns.

The grid represents beats in time...

Press the micro grid part in far bottom, and make your own beat grid patterns :)

Thanx for answering.

I got what you are telling me it's more about them four horizontal lines and the color of the boxes when they pass from the blue to yellow.

But hey I recon I just have to keep doing it and open fully my hears.

What I mean is what represent each of them horizontal lines?

The horizontal represents different types of beats
Vertically, each 4 beats has 4 types of beats (or 1 if you dont have micro grid on)

The color represent if its on or off (yellow blue you say, guess thats your skin color. Its purple and white at my vdj)

Just play around with it, and you'll understand how it works ;)

Make this grid, then make a 4 beat loop in VDJ.

Apply the effect, and you'll hear and understand the logic.

start changing parts from here, and you'll hear how things change

Left click a color to turn it on, right click a color bar to turn it off

just my few cents:

if the beginning of the row is highlighted purple then it will pick up on the first notes when you press the beatgrid. if they are not highlighted, it will wait until it reaches the highlighted section and then it will beatgrid.

a good way to practice this is with MIA's 'paper planes'

beatgrid the gunshot to make it sound like a six shooter or a M-60!

and as you already know, playing with it and practicing = perfection.

good luck brother.

I didn't come on the website for a while and coudn't check all your answers. Thanx. I'm gonna take some time to analyse all that and try it out!!!

thanks for reminding me .....

I'm appalled at myself for having it , but I had a copy of paper planes ........

now of course , i've deleted that trash from my hard drive .......
