Kenobi, try adjusting one or two of the other settings in the options tab, now i haven't tried these myself but you could have a play around with them and see if it helps, look at auto crossfader etc, just remember the settings if you need to go back to them.
got to admit 15 seconds on an auto mix seems like an awful long time, you will probably end up with a few train wrecks when your listening at the bar getting a refill... lol, anyway hope you get what your after.

Thanks for all suggestions but I have tried them all and Automix is still happening in 5 seconds...this has me beaten :(
