Hi can someone please help me.
I have noticed that when i am mixing on vdj when ever i control something on vdj i.e the crossfader,gain, volume etc i get a funny crackling noise doesnt do it if im not moving anything only when i am using the controls within vdj.
For example i get 2 songs ready to mix play deck 1 when it comes to mixing the tune with the crossfader as i move the crossfader the noise appears. when the song is mixed and i unclick of the crossfader crackling noise gone. Very strange and happerns every time

These noises, delays and distortion come from sound card and device's latency.
That is the speed they are able to travel at on your system.
Running in ASIO mode if possible will help this.
In config/performance tab, move the lever to the left until the problem is cured.
Un check boxes, safe mode and over clock with the latency setting on Auto.
This should help on the program side.
Also make sure you are running the latest drivers for all of your devices and use the same usb locations for each one.
If you run this utility below it will help identify hardware that is causing latency issues.

As mp3jrick told you as first thing do it:
Un check boxes, safe mode and over clock with the latency setting on Auto.
Also make sure you are running the latest drivers for all of your devices and use the same usb locations for each one.
If you run this utility below it will help identify hardware that is causing latency issues.
You need to download this tool:
http://www.thesycon.de/dpclat/dpclat.exe
For learning further informations about this tool, read it please:
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/105257/PC_Version_Technical_Support/Latency_Checker_Helped_Me_Fix_My_Audio_Problems___.html
Just two words about this tool:
that tool helps you to understand if you have any latency issue which can cause sound drop-out. If you have red bars, you need to disable at least one device (Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, network card, etc) till you have yellow or better green bars.

Ok i have done what you said un check safe mode and overclock and set latency to auto
I have ran the latency tool and it has got green bars without me having to disable any of my hardware
But i have still got the problem

Are you in Asio mode?
If you are, try raising your "Asio buffer level" of your sound card (that's if you can)
Mensajes Thu 26 Mar 09 @ 5:20 am
What is your soundcard?
Do you have Keylock/MasterTempo enabled?
If so, or you disable this feature (better this way) or you may set it Advanced Complexity=1 Spatialization=0
Probably your problem depends on these last options.

You can't sell your account because it is nominal and I am sure we can help you to understand where your configuration is wrong.

Well i have done what you guys have told me and i have ran the latency tool and that is showing all green bars so what could be the problem then...

Read it and answer at my questions, please.
You can enable and disable keylock function by clicking on the padlock

As Sischo says you nned to tell us what your sound card is, whether it is internal or external and whether you are running in directsound or Asio mode. We can't help much more without that info.
Most VDJ users don't have this problem so it must be something specific to your setup.

ok.
Try to set in Sound Cards tab, the ASIO mode, in ASIO driver should display "Numark USB Audio Device" and click on ASIO config to change the buffer size in samples (latency time).
The higher is this value, the more stable is your system but latency time is bigger.
The lower is this value, the smaller is the latency time but your system can become unstable.
I suggest you to set the higher value as possible (starting from 1024 samples) and reducing it, you need to look for the lower value which allows you not to have any sound problems.
The manual of your product says:
Please note: Depending on your computer, some latency settings may not work
correctly. If you are running on a slower machine and try to use low audio latency
settings (‘49’, ‘64’, ‘128’ samples), you may experience audio drop-outs and glitches. If
you experience drop-outs or glitches, you will need to increase the audio latency in the
Numark USB Control Panel by choosing one of the higher settings, such as ‘512’ or
‘1024’ samples.
P.S: read also pag. 35 of VDJ manual
http://www.virtualdj.com/images/pdf/VirtualDJ%205.1%20-%20User%20Guide.pdf

thanks sischo i have managed to sort the problem out on my desktop computer by playing around with the numark asio latency settings but i still have the problem on my laptop which is what i use the most for vitual dj but i will keep trying all the stuff you have told me until the problem goes away. I Just find it strange how it does it on both my pc and laptop.
The problem first started when i upgraded to vista so i got rid of vista and went back to xp but the problem was still there even though i didnt have the problem until i installed vista very strange i think.

Ok.
As I said you yet, VDJ is a software which leans on an OS. If you have problems with VDJ, it can depends on many matters:
1) wrong setting of VDJ;
2) wrong setting of OS;
3) driver problems;
4) hardware problems;
At first I made sure that it wasn't a problem of VDJ settings, after I would be gone through OS settings, again through driver problems and in the end I would have analized your hardware problems.
What I can suggest you for next time, it's that you need to read the manuals of VDJ and of your installed hardwares; you need to remember that VDJ is a software, and as software, there are a lot of settings you need to test before complaining with support.
I read you installed Vista over XP: bad idea to do that.
If you did want to install Vista, you had to format your computer and installing the new OS.
You are welcome!! :)

I suggest you this:
soon it will be available VDJ 6.0.
You can try it and after trying it out and if you really don't like the new features, you can move on Traktor.
