Hey all,
So I got the BCD3000 now for awhile and I like to buy some speakers.
I live in the Netherlands, and I have searched trough some main stores but couldn't find any.
However, I also need some help on what's good to buy. I do not want to go to high in price.
I've seen the KRK Rokit 5, and that one seems nice and a good price.
Any tips?
Thanks alot

The KRK Rokit 5 is a 75W monitor and you won't get enough sound out of them to play anywhere but you living room. First you have to ask yourself if you want passive or powered speakers and how large an area you will be playing. I run a pair of Yamaha BR15's with a QSC RMX 2450 amp with a single Yamaha MSR800W powered sub and they pump pretty good for medium sized venues. If I go to large venues I use 4 mains. I play mainly rock/oldies/ and some dance so one sub is good. If you are going to move a lot (3-4 times a week) you may want to check out powered speakers. It will lighten your load but I like the sound of passive speakers better. JBL EON offers some good powered speakers and Yamaha does too. A pair of Yamaha MSR400 ($580 a piece) coupled with a Yamaha MSR800W ($900) sub sounds great. Personally I would go with Yamaha or JBL. That is just my opinion and everyone has their favs. Also, if you like VDJ put some money into the program for the licensed version it's better than any cracked version!

First of all, I don't really know alot about speakers. So, what's active and what's passive?
And ye, to tell you the truth, I'm not planning to actually go outside my room lol for DJ'ing.
It's just, I like to have some fancy speakers that have a decent sound, but can have a decent volume aswell.
That's why it's hard for me to find good speakers, since I don't really see anything at a normal price.
When I search for speakers on some local stores, it all goes towards the more professional way like you described; playing at sort of halls.
So I actually just want a pair for my room. :)
Maybe it does sound stupid, and maybe you people got better advice.
Thanks though for your reply

Active=self powered, Passive=needs an amp. For my garage set up I use these, and a 8 inch sub. Works great coupled with my Behringer 1502 EQ.

How much do you want to spend? That is a key question because too much for one person may not be too much for another.
Check out these:
M-Audio Studiophile BX5a Deluxe Active Monitors ($299)
Yamaha HS-50M/HS-10W 2.1 Powered Monitor Package (comes with sub) ($699)
Yamaha MSP3 Active 2-Way Studio Monitor-Each ($165 each)
I heard MSP3 play today when I was in Tokyo buying more equipment and they all sounded good.

Hm.. I was happy to see the M-Audio Studiophile BX5a Deluxe Active Monitors ($299) you linked,
but I noticed later they are $399 :(
However, that's like my budget, around the €300

Sound without the subs is pretty good, for smaller areas they are fine. I use the sub to give it some punch. I've had mine for 4 years now and feel I absolutely got my moneys worth.

I have ordered lots from this site and the service is great. Not sure if they can ship to you (I notice you are using Euro) But if you know a US Soldier I know they will ship to them for FREE!
Let me know where you are because I know a lot of them, especially in Germany.

I prefer not to order over the internet if I can get them from outta store.
However, I'm seeing the KRK RP 5 G2 passing by again, and it's €155,- each.
How are these speakers? Cause they seem very popular and they are affordeable
and they are good to obtain here at my place.

The B-52 Matrix series are great. I've recommended them to a few people here and on the Pioneer Pro-DJ Forums. These are powered (active) so you won't need a seperate amp. They include a compressor, crossover and limiter built into the speakers to help with clipping and feedback etc. They are very reasonably priced so you get a lot for your money. Here is the link...

I don't think you can order them through the Guitar Center but I know they are sold in European music/DJ shops too, so this link is just for info purposes and so you can read the user reviews, quite a few people posted their experiences with these speakers, I love mine!!
I use these in both the 2000 V2 and 1000 V2 depending on the venue.
God luck!!

Being European-based, you may want to check out the KME kit (German-made). Their newer stuff definitely has a superior sound, coupled with light weight (especially with their powered subs). Might not be the cheapest around, but their sound is top-class:
http://www.kme-sound.de/cgi-bin/kme.shop/49f7a9af004dec90273f4debae1906f6/Catalog/1065
I use this sub (750W) with up to 4x VL12's (350W). The tops (passive VL12's) are easily driven by the VSS 15/18 subs. Having listened to these subs with the VL15's, I decided the sub had more than enough bottom end and sounded better with the VL12's (which produced more mid-range than the VL15's). Even at very high volumes (and I've yet to max these out), you won't get any distortion.
With 3 x class-d amps embedded in it (and are programmable), coupled with Neodymium magnets, which result in lighter weight in the speakers. (Similiar speakers using standard magnets are a lot heavier!! Trust me!).
I've yet to hear better sounding speakers than these...
If you have to save the cash for a while, it's worth holding off until you can get your hands on quality speakers. Regardless of the brand you eventually go with, go for the best you can. You'll appreciate the better sound investment you've made, in no time...
-Martin.
