I have a new Macbook with VDJ Pro and a FreeAgent 320gb external HD. I use the computer as a personal computer and frequently use VDJ without the HD. When I'm at a job I plug in my HD and everything before I turn on the computer. Then I open VDJ and the HD shows up under Volumes, with the music, but when I try to load a song off the HD I get an error message. I then have to click on "FreeAgent" drive and "Add to search DB," then the songs load fine. I imagine I should not have to add to search db every time I use the hard drive, what am I doing wrong?

I know there's got to be a way to fix this because it's incredibly inconvenient.

Once you have done the search of the folder once it was stay in the database, but have you every gone into config > Browser and clicked on check or clean when your extarnal hardrive is not plugged in??
If you have then your songs won't load and you need to research the folder everytime you do this if the hard drive was not pluged in so only do this when your hard drive is plugged in.
