why is it that when i try to reverse my track in stop mode while the record is playing, it slows up the tempo?.. i have to either nudge the track forward and the backspin or hold the jogwgheel down for a second and the backspin.. anyone know how to fix this in the mapper?

If wheel mode is in 'Jogwheel' mode (JOG MODE button not lit), it will pitch bend when you turn the wheel, so turning it backwards while the song is playing will gradually slow down the song.
In 'Scratch' mode (JOG MODE button lit green), it will pitch bend when touched lightly and stop the music and scratch when pressed down.
If you are trying to do spinbacks, the HC4500 jogwheel is not well designed for this because it is not free-spinning. The HC4500 mapper had a workaround 'Spinback' mode for this which simply forces the jogwheel to always scratch and increases the sensitivity, so you can turn the wheel to perform a spinback.

so there is no way to increase the sensitivity?

Try the sensitivity slider in the Config -> Options tab ...

it does indeed make the jogwheen more sensitive, but didnt solve the problem.. i still have to do the same thing to get my manual backspin effect

it worked fine with your mapper, but now trying to backspin in vinyl mode make it act as if it was in jog mode where the track slows regaurdless on the pressure i apply... i have to nudge the track forward a bit and then i can do a backspin or just a simple back scratch.. BTW.. it only does this while the track is playing if the track is paused, i can scratch freely backwards and forward

I have posted a similar message last week regarding this issue with the jogwheel. There must be something that can be done in the software as pevious versions of VDJ had better (more instantanious) response from the jogwheel when in scratch mode. If you find a fix pls let me know. I will do the same.

I have the same Problem with the jogwheel, it makes me crazy. So I hope a new mapper (under progress?!?) will resolve this Problem.

Simple answer is to roll back to 5.2 until these issues are resolved and JPB gets a chance to look at remapping the HC4500.
Although V6 has some nice features, I personally consider the controller interface to be important so that's why I'm sticking with 5.2
I can see why the controller mapping has been drastically changed, it's just a shame that V6 doesn't support the current mappers any more, especially given the considerable amount of time and effort by JPB to get the HC-4500 mapper to where it was.

Hi dat_boi_tj,
I've tested something with the mapper function. Now for me it's okay. Try this:
- go to config option in VDJ 6
- click on the option Mapper
- choose the Denon HC4500
- look for Key "JOG" and Action "scratch_wheel"
- change Action from "scratch_wheel" to "jog_wheel"
- press ok
When you make a backspin in scratchmode, you don't need to hold or go forward first. The backspin starts directly.

excellent. can you still 'bend' when you turn the wheels without pressing?

No, for bend you must change the Jog Mode to "Jog Wheel"

This is an issue that needs to be addressed on a 'programming level' and we are looking into it ... here is what I posted for the CDJ-400 and iCDX users ...
So if you want pitch bending then you need to use the JOG MODE button to take yourself out of Vinyl Mode to CD Mode in order to get pitch bending.
You can read more about it here on this page ...

If you willing to sacrifice pitch bending via the jog when in Vinyl Mode for better scratching ?
If so, change the JOG_WHEEL key in the mapper to jog_wheel NOT scratch_wheel. Pitch bending via the jog will only work if you turn Vinyl Mode OFF by pressing the Vinyl button.

Ok...bearing in mind that this issue needs to be addressed from a programming level, is it possible to change the mapper settings so the wheel mode button behaves in the sme way as in V5.2, eg, just bend and scratch ommiting the jog/brower mode. This would be easier and save time changing between the two modes in the mean time

Same problem with XP10 controllers!
My post from tech support forum...
"Play a song... touch the wheel and draw it back quickly. They hold should engage and the song should reverse. Not! For some reason the bend is engaging and bypassing the wheel touch message. The only way to get "somewhat proper" scratch is to nudge the wheel forward a little first then scratch. But if you do scratching tricks with a wheel touch release it completely messes up because it's not reversing properly. Not good at all guys! Btw... had been able to get it working fine on VDJ5."

...
Also, I tried the scratch_wheel to jog_wheel assignment but that doesn't work either. Now, when you spin the wheel forward by touching and letting go... it takes off settles / pauses then takes off again. ARGH!!!! Make it work like it did in VDJ5 or like Traktor (btw... Traktor runs great with controllers but no vid. That's why I use the Tacktor for controller scratching and Virtual DJ for videos / visuals / mp3s)

it scratches but the track is delayed when i take my finger off... not as annoying tho..
Mensajes Sun 14 Jun 09 @ 5:25 pm
Yeah, not as annoying but needs to be fixed for sure. This will keep me from being able to use VDJ6 in a live setting. Hopefully soon.
