Is Netsearch included in the price of VDJ as a permanent feature? Or will it be locked out unless you pay money later on?

Netsearch is included with Virtual DJ Pro 6 all you have to do is log in with your username and password. As far as I am aware their is nothing else to pay.

Give them some time...they're swamped at the moment answering all kinds of questions and helping people who are having technical issues.

You can read the info regarding the Netsearch on site clearly stating that the source of the music etc.. is free

Since Atomix is touting the Netsearch feature to sell Virtual DJ I find it suspicious that people are saying 'enjoy it while you can'.
There are rumors going around on the professional DJ forums that Netsearch is going to be locked out unless you pay for a subscription. I am trying to find out from the source whether the rumors are true or not.
I also find it suspicious that I cannot get an official response. All I need is someone from Atomix to say "The Netsearch feature is part of Virtual DJ and you will not be charged extra for it as long as you own Virtual DJ 6"
Whether they decide to offer different versions with paid subscriptions is not an issue. We paid for THIS version that includes Netsearch as an integral part of VDJ and I want to make sure we are not getting scammed.
How about it Atomix? I need to post a response in the DJ forums regarding this allegation.

in my opinion the sound quality on the few netserch files i checked SUCKED. its quality is way too low to play on a real system in any club. i guess if your playing in your room or something fine but in a real club setting NO SIR! i wouldn't even want wifi turned on on any of my gig machines. its not safe. not worth the problems you can have by doing it. but hey people drive drunk all the time.

The feature is supposed to be a incentive to buy VDJ so hopefully there will be no charge for the service. I am surprised that VDJ did'nt concentrate a little more on making the software more secure so it can not be distributed freely. I was miffed to see 6.1 available with days of release freely on the net. But we have had his conversation in other posts.
The Netsearch is a good gimmick but I agree with you, to use this at a gig would be more trouble than its worth, having to search though poor quality tunes to find a good one. However for home use I do like it as a reference feature, when I have some time on my hands.

I've never commented on the Netsearch function and I will probably never again, but here is my idea.
This is probably the most useless function ever to be put in VDJ in past or (hopefully) future.
1. Legal implications: even when you download this stuff from legal promo sites, try explaining that to an inspector
2. Internet?: i have never played anywhere where i could possibly access the internet. Playing songs from cache is nothing but a HD space hog.
3. Quality: Internet + quality = error. There might be alot of good stuff in between, but the crowd just needs one bad track to notice (or at least the boss does)
4. WHY??: If a DJ can't even say "screw you" when a request comes in, why not just use a jukebox? It MAKES money instead of costing. The biggest consequence of all these illegal-download-DJ's is that people think DJ's have every track ever made in their collection, and now VDJ is pushing it even further?
5. This kind of function belongs in a bedroom-DJ-program. If VDJ would just make some seperate programs: Timecode version, MIDI version, video version etc, it would make the program alot less bloated and would probably stop alot of the criticism towards VDJ. It would look much more pro.
There, now i'm going to shutup about Netsearch forever.

Van, tell us what you really think! LMAO
First I appreciate the VDJ updates and this is not a complaint, just a user review.
I also agree I will never use this feature, my machines do NOT connect to the Internet for any reason. This includes NETSEARCH and MUSIC GROUPS. (I didn't use the old Napster feature either) For me personally this is just extra code running and could "possibly" cause issues that I don't need. I currently pay a TON of money each month for good clean music and video licensed for a public performance. (Legal Issue)
If I did want to find something on the Internet I'm a certified GOOGLE expert with hours of experience. I can use this piece of crap computer for that purpose. I've read other users love these new features which is great, but for me I have to pass.
I'm currently on a 6 month roll using VDJ 5 at least three nights a week, five hours a night with ZERO crashes for 2009. I don't plan on updating my gig machine to V-6 for at LEAST 6 months. When something works absolutely PERFECTLY I don't screw with it. If I could find a male this perfect I would not be sitting here typing or searching.

to me its up to the user themselves.from automix its another option for us the buyers.me personally as been stated i would noit or havent used internet connection whilst workin.tips from past is it causes conflict with software ie runs in the backround and causes glitches and some crashes from pc.the rule as a dj if you havent got it get it for next gig or say to the punter yeh sure give me a while lol

does he know he's barking up the wrong bush?...
gotta go with Renee on this one. would never use it on a work machine, but would definitely give it a use or two at home while researching new music to play - and would probably NEVER use the track in cache itself. i can see its usefulness in some cases, but only in a limited sense.
and as far as it being a "preview" of things to be paid for later, if they didnt say so already then it probably gonna stay like it is. why bug the staffers about something that is already out there. go read the user guide, read the webpage. then decide.

To be honest paying for use of this service in the future would be a ridicule's idea as the content is not guaranteed to be there also much of it is very poor quality and very time consuming to find a decent file. It would also be unwise to play any of these at a gig unless previously vetted. Also, despite these files being so called found freely on the web copyrght laws are still be broken, no difference to recording off the radio and playing them in public. Unless of course VDJ pay the fees on behalf of us VDJ users which is very kind. Whilst on the subject, looks like Piratebay is going to be legal and pay users.
