Tópico: v6.0.1 database still missing bpm info??? - Page: 2

Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I had trouble finding songs along time ago i knew the problem then it was when i added songs to any of my music folders it would not come up in the search data base so i would have to manually go to that folder and then search it that way (wich was a pain) and it would stay after that. So then i found this wonderful feature called Add to search db.... i know i speak most of us DJ'S when i say that we keep most of our music in one folder with alot of sub folders in them. So to answer your questions all you have to do is before a gig go to your main music folder on vdj and right click it and hit Add to search db and depending on how much music you have (i have about 20,000 songs) it should take less than 10 seconds very quick.

Can I right click on the main VDJ Songs folder and add to database;

Yes just perform the action at the highest folder level.

This is great news, that you found the problem and have a fix-request in with the dev-team (and also have a work-around in the meantime!). :-)

Thanks for the feedback and workaround... happy days :-) :-)

Yes, great work and thanks.

We may need to look a little deeper in this. I have all my songs on the internal drive. have settings for "add manually" Have NOT hooked up any other drives. have not added any new songs either. Scanned all files, fix, check, and clean in that order. Did not even go to any playlists or to ANY folders, for that matter. Simply closed VDJ, reopened and 4 songs had no data and had to be rescanned.

Did this twice each time lost data on another 12 "random" songs.

XP sp3 2 gB ram 250 gB HD 45% free.

Also, I do want to add that I have duplicated this on THREE different computers ; two high-end laptops and one high-end shuttle, which neither has ever had a problem with playing videos. What I did again was simply close down VDJ and then reopen it, and at least 75 songs had all their "MISSING" info. These were computers with all the songs/videos in the internal "C" drive. I did not open any playlists or history files, and i did not open any folders either. Did the fix, check clean thing, had add manually on, did not use any external HD's in the meantime.

All were on XP sp3 with at least 2 gB ram and plenty of empty hard drive space. all updates, recent direct X, etc, etc.

I think this item needs a good looking over. It really makes my virtual folders a moot point. As most of them are based on newly added or "latest seen", etc. etc.

Just for the record, I added 20+ albums (>400 tracks) in the last few days, following cstoll's recommendations above, and I haven't had a single old track appear with missing info. I added the albums ~3 or 4 at a time. Lookin' good for me so far :-).

Haven't recursed the drive or tried adding more than 5 albums at a time, but will try that soon.

Will revert if the problem re-appears...

I don't have any trouble adding or loading in songs. It's simply when I open up VDJ, I never know which 5 to 20 songs will be missing data, and then all my filter folders that are based upon "first seen", are full of old songs that were REALLY SEEN years ago.

And this happens randomly, as sometimes it doesn't happen, and it happens with random songs and a random number of songs (with or without clicking on folders or playlists) on an internal drive following cStoll's recommendations. Not ranting, I just want to report these facts so it is clear the problem is still ongoing and the more facts that get reported, I think it helps out the "bug fixers". :)

Exact same problem here. I followed all instructions above. Maybe I missed something but in the meantime the only thing I can do is check my utility folder for "hidden" songs and manually add them back each time. And my "fresh tracks" seems pretty much useless until there is a fix.

I'm hoping, as we ALL are, that someone on the team will intervene and tell us they found something and it IS being worked on, as we speak? Team members???

i think VDJ is punishing me... :-(
just kiddin'...
now i also lose a few(1~5) songs after every gig i have

I have noticed that when I use another computer with an external drive I do not lose any songs. I also have all favorited folders and not filter folders. So I assume it either has something to do with the filter folders or the external drive. I will have to do more research.

Please do. As I was at a wedding tonight and noticed I lost my virtual folder of "slow songs", . Really not fun at a wedding.

In the meantime what I have been doing to get me by is:

1. Set your browser settings to add to database manually.
2. Make sure you have a maintenance folder to show any hidden songs. (use the filter isscanned=0) This will show songs hidden from search.
3. Always check that folder and it should put all missing songs in there. Select add to search database as you find any missing songs.
4. I always to a fix, check, clean before every gig after I added all any extra songs.

Currently I do not have a "fresh" songs folder as it is pretty much useless. I have created my own a simple unmonitored folder and all my new songs manually to it as I build my library.

This has been getting me by until I figure it out.

I really think it might have to do with some of my filter folders I have created. I have a ton of them. Thinking of deleting and going back to regular monitored folders and see if that fixes it.

Hmmm, I always do pretty much as you suggested above, and only have 6 or 7 virtual folders and 1 or 2 filter folders, and almost always lose some bpm info on a 1/2 dozen songs at every opening up, and once in a while still lose one or more entire virtual folder (we're talking 2 or 3 out of 7...LOST).

hi guys im new to this, i see that i can mix music videos songs and it turns out to be a mp3 when its ment to be a vob file can anyone help me pls i have version 6 i think
cheers thanks

Firstly, you should have started a new thread with your question. If it doesn't relate to the thread title, it doesn't belong in this thread...

Secondly, I'm afraid I don't understand your question...!

Hey gang I thought I would toss this out there...

I, too, have started having this issue but ONLY after I have done a "check" and "fix" when first opening VDJ. It was suggested to me by a fellow user to always do this whenever I add or delete songs from the hard drive.

The other night I did "check" and "fix" even though I had not added or removed any songs from the hard drive. When I was searching for files they were not being returned in search. I recursed my entire "music" folder and sorted by BPM only to find a BUNCH of files missing BPM and LENGTH.

Is anyone else doing "check" and "fix" and then noticing some files missing the analyzed information??

Yup, happens a lot. But usually notice the missing data after opening VDJ again at a later time.

I find the most missing tracks just after I recurse my folders. I have a utility folder set up (filter folder) that shows any tracks hidden from search. I always find between 1 and 25 roughly before every gig. I then have to highlight the track and select "add songs to database". I then proceed to check, fix, delete.

This happens almost every gig.

I have all my music on my internal drive. I have a laptop with music hooked up externally to which this does not happen. I still can't figure out why.
