CPU is close to being maxed out. I bet if the video showed a track being loaded the next thing you would have seen is it crash.

I can run it on my Vaio UX1 and it's a hell of a lot smaller than the shift at 150 x 95 x 32 mm
32gb SSD drive, keyboard, touchscreen and a 5 hour battery ..... it's a mobile disco in yer pocket! .... and I've had it over 2 years ......
The CPU runs about 25% so it's got more than enough grunt for audio, but I never use video and don't have a 1024 x 600 skin for video anyway!. If video is loaded it seems to play just fine in the preview window. No skipping at all.
I also use it as a remote device when I'm working in the club, and the fingerprint scanner locks VDJ when I'm away so no-one can change the music.

I use a ACER Aspire One as my backup for audio and it works flawless. I have also run video , but it freezes the video until the other is loaded other than that it's a great machine for backup.

Personal opinion here.
The VDJ program will run on just about anything. Its the USB system that causes all the laptop users problems. I say laptop users because I have run VDJ on some fairly wimpy PC's with no probs. When you start to expect a lappy to run with external sound, keyboard, mouse,HDD and then add a controller. Thats when the problems start.

CPU intel 800mhz , 1gb of ram , 40gb hard drive (1.8").
1VGA , 1USB and 1 mini jack output (for headphone).
This is only an experiment....but I haven't any crashes yet using video file. I use only mpg1 video format in my videoDjSet and loading track is about 20 seconds from external HD (1Tb).
These decides are not yet good and reliable for use in live but can be a good "stage hole" in case of crash. I'll use it to record my video dj set.
Sony UX1 is more performant, but has too expansive. I paid my HTC only 350euros(on ebay)!!!!
edit : tomorrow I try to use it whit my Xponent ;)
