Just curous if the site below is part of PCDJ's software.
http://songresearchdatabase.com/index.php
the icon in the address bar looks like the PCDJ logo.
any who if it is i would be cool if virtual dj could implement the same thing it has pretty much every song i searched for complete with chart information and year released etc.
I am always searching for the year of release to annouce or put on the screen at my retro night events. that's how i found this.
click on the little "i" in a circle to see all the information available for each track.

Yes, your right it does look a bit pcdj-ish.
Anyway I used to have a great program that did the same thing only it used to work without an internet connection, every now and again you used go online and update it. This ment that your DJ computer didn't have to ever be connected to the net
I lost that program, if anyone knows of one please let me know

Back in the days of the old vinyl jukebox, the records needed to have a larger center, because of the machineary involved to pick the record, and move it to the platter to play it..
The picture is the adapter needed to play these records on a standard deck.
Those people fortunate enough to have a pair of technics decks would have had the silver block to use with those records..
Those that had lost that block needed to buy several of these adaptors in order to play your 'larger centered' records.
they were also in the local record shops labeld 'spiders' long before PCDJ decided that a computer could be adapted to play recordings of music...
:)
[end of history lesson] lol

After 25 years of DJing I use a thing called a memory. Far faster access time than a hard drive and it doesn't need online access.
When memory is not working, I use everyhit.com - there's a WAP friendly version too :)

Sorry When Spinning Music From th late 50's at some of my events to 2009 now at others I can't remember years be heart. lol. I am pretty good at BPM's though by now. ha ha.
Anywho I am looking to automate the years & titles being put on the screen that's why I am researching now so virtual DJ can do it for me in the future.
I was noting this site so maybe virtual DJ developers could maybe implement something like this (like they did with music groups or Net Search), that with a plugin or click of a button Virtual DJ could search a database and put the information on the screen automatically.
Just an idea.
Thanks Everyone

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day we used a thing call a book. Yes an actual book, cover on the front, cover on the back and lots and lots of pages with reproductions of the billboard charts from the very first year right up until the date of the books printing.
When I was converting my record library over to mp3 I actually manually went through the book and put the years the song peaked on the hot 100 chart. If I could not find the song in the hot 100 I checked the book for the R&B charts and if it wasn't in there I used the copyright data printed on the label. I did this for over 10,000 songs (not even close to the number of songs in the entire book). Yeah, I had WAAAAAAy to much time on my hands.
By the way the books are licensed by Billboard and published by Joel Whitburn...still puts them out and now along with the top 40 book and top r&B charts he has a top dance charts finally. They also have an internet service (for an astronimical fee) but nothing in a searchable dvd (they do have a dvd with jpg scans of all the charts but nothing in a searchable format).
A searchable DVD like that would be copied and put up on every P2P and dj email inbox in less than 24 hours so no one is willing to put it out as they would not make any money....that's why Billboard and Mr. Whitburn lock the info up on a pay web-site and I don't let my database out to anyone...too much work and not enough $$$ return.
i am sure if you can type really fast and have several hundred hours to spare you could manually type the info from the books you wanted...but if you think titling your 100 songs or videos a month is a pain in the ass...................

What i meant to add is that PCDJ cannot possibly copywrite a picture of something that has been used on a deck for over 50 years.
