I am still trying to understand where I said you or any other customer was wrong ???
I thought this conversation was about how one achieves a level of recognition for their contributions to the community -- i.e. Stars/Status
But obviously I miss read the topic somewhere or the title of this topic is wrong ?

Its the recognition of experience with the software and what they are talking about ... it shows their real investment into the success of not only themselves but the community as a whole.
so what about the people that don't really know how to help there sol? how do they show there investment in helping others? i guess what im trying to say is how can they help?

www.starregistry.co.uk - for any one who would like to buy some stars.
Seriously though you cant really ask for "stars"
Its like building a business relationship, if you want to gain the trust of the company you need to do this by being helpful.
They notice people who help others directly by supporting them or by producing skins ect.
At the end of the day, if you help others and have a good conduct regardless of how many stars you have people will respect you for that.
It took me a little while to work that out but its true.

Everyone knows how to help ... it's called making posts ... showing your knowledge. By making posts to peoples questions ... if what you stated is their answer ... it's a cop out and they have no true interest or desire to invest further.

Well I would like to vote with the car manufactures that once I buy a car then I get to test the next year's model for free - but that would bankrupt them ... oh wait they are already bankrupt ... but I still want to test that next year model, because I own last years.
There are some things that sure the customer get's a say about - but then there are things that are a company policy and that decision is controlled by the company. And this is one of those options that is not for debate within the 'customer' group.

I know... I know... I log my problems with database issues and video quirkies. And DJ Cyder kinda dissed me at the AC Expo. And I probably will never get above 3 stars.
But tonight I had a flawless night and was able to record video of the whole night without a problem.
VDJ allowed me to do things never possible before with vinyl or CD. The crowd jammmed all night long. Thanks VDJ for a kick ass system.

It's unlikely you'll get any stars without actually buying anything I'm afraid - simply spamming the forum posting everywhere asking how to get effects definately won't help you ;)
If you have bought VDJ, then register the serial and you'll instantly get a few stars under your name :)

Jim how so? As I recall I sent you free expo passes. If I did my apologies, I don't remember dissing anyone. Anyways the expo's are not for support they are to showcase Virtualdj and fellow community members to get together and talk about virtualdj and meet the people behind it. We have a dedicated community, eservice and phone support for those other things thanks for understanding.

Cyder,
Hey no problemo. I came up and introduced my self a couple of times and thanked you for the Full pass. The VDJ booth was very busy and you seemed pretty occupied. I wasn't able to strke up any conversation other than thanking you. And I do really appreciate that you gave me that pass. I had a wonderful time learning how to improve my DJ/VJ skills.
I thought you might have recoginzed me (hockadeer) and didn't want to talk with me because I report problems and complain once and a while with issues I encounter wth VDJ. And I understand you function was to bring on new users, and not waste time talking with an already sold user. I suppose I walked up at a bad time. The place was pretty crazy with people, sounds, and lights.
In conclusion all is good. VDJ has allowed me to do things with music and video I had only dreamed about. I am very happy to be one of your customers. And as time goes on and I learn more, I hope to help improve VDJ by giving you my feedback and suggestions. I appreciate the time and intelligence you and your team have invested in creating this kick ass product.

No worries Jimmy I try to make time for everyone at the shows I'm sorry I seemed occupied on the show floor. I have about 1 million things going through my head at any given time: making sure everything is working and nothing is "missing" also we had several other vendors showing VDJ and I would run around to check their setups too. For me the show is an exhausting week as the end result of months of pre-planning, logistal nightmares staff and computers. Anyways I'm glad you came to check us out. We don't feel anyone how has a license is a waste of time. Perhaps you caught me at a bad time, or at that time I was trying to solve a problem etc. Our booth is always crazy at the expo, not to mention the ongoing volume war with denon across from us added to problems. By the end of the week my voice was shot and I needed a vacation.

AT the EU shows they have noise police who stop any one from exceeding like 1% volume at shows.
Its hilarious because as soon as they are round the corner noise wars begin again.
Good old health and safety :D

I like the concept of the stars, I don't think there's anything wrong with that system. If you contribute to the community you will get rewarded. As someone who ran many message boards in the past I would also do the same. I rewarded the people who contributed by giving them access to a special board. There's many people on message boards that just come to ask for things and learn but they never contribute anything back so I think its a cool was to encourage more user participation. I wish we had a cool start script for the message boards back when I was running my message boards.
