im thinking about buying the pioneer efx500 to add on to my set up.. is it possible to hook it up whille using vdj6?

Why not? It has nothing to do with the program itself only the sound exiting which is where the EFX comes in. I use a Pioneer DJM-800 which has a bunch of EFX style effects and I use VDJ with it.
