And another thing I forgot to mention although can be an issue is this...Some firewalls (Norton, Zone Alarm, etc) sometimes require a full uninstall before it will enable you to open up certain sites/programs. This reason is due to leaving registry keys inside the registry and are removed only once the software is removed.
This is not something I would do first although if disabling the firewall and trying another software doesn't work ONLY THEN! would I attempt to uninstall the firewall.
