it may seem like climbing a mountain but it would be best for you to take the time and select what should go into the genre box, what you may get as an automatic pop insert you might call it dance etc so spend the time and do it yourself, you thank me in two years when your finished.... lol

Yep honest answer, it takes time thouht & dedication, But like Tayla said you'll be happier in the end.

One tip I can give you is to sort out you're collection by genre Like Country, Pop, RnB, Techno, ect, then process that genre group it will speed up the process for you.

As suggested, if you get your music sorted by genre into various folders, regardless of how your music ripper tags them, it will be very easy to go back and re-tag them into the correct genre (if necessary) by using various tools freely available.

One other piece of advice I'd give is to not use iTunes to rip your CD's. While it may do a reasonable job at organising your music into folders by album or artist or whatever, I personally don't think it's got a good encoder, regardless of what bitrate you use to encode your mp3s. Use a cd ripper that uses LAME as it's engine to encode your CD's.

The best way to oraginizing music is by doing it manually. You make many folders into genres or sessions. You are organizing your music so you can dj great. You dont let software do it for you because you have to know where you have your music at all times. You are dj ying to make people dance. You always have the next song ready because you know its good.

+1, organizing into folders is how I do it and it makes it sooo much easier. Just go to the Rap folder and Rap is there plain and simple. I know users who break it down even further, but I use whats best for me, not anyone else. I dont use Filter Folders or even Favorite folders as I have all I need with the breakdown I have.

thanks everyone for the info i guess i have alot of work ahead of me lol

Seperate folders inside the main folder.

is there a program say if itues and windows doesn't come up with the cd tracks is there a program that can do that.

One problem with programs is that the program can see music and slot it to go into a specific genre folder but it's not how YOU would class that particular track.

For example, lets say you have a song from Mary J Blige. Her music can be classed as Hip Hop or R&B or Pop. The question is where would YOU want that song to be, what genre do YOU class it as?

As said before, the best way is to do it yourself. that way you know exactly where everything is and it's where you want it to be.

Good luck.
